Don't know if it's the time of year... I came across a DVD I burnt years ago, of some of my best FS9 videos.
4:3 aspect, jerky, and really primitive texture sets by today's standards.
Man, I was proud of those at the time.

There's a real danger that the new sims are so real that you don't have to suspend disbelief in them.
That means about half the fun is gone, too.

Holy crap Marty!!  :givein:

Like naki says you must have an enormous amount of hard drive(s) to accommodate that!

But don't stop your screenies are always amazing and enjoyable regardless of what sim!!

I have all that stuff spread over 5 external drives, with a total of ....about, 5TB to spare.
It's not ideal I know, but it works at the moment. ...sort of B-)

Charl ... I still remember you posting a great fs9 video of a Spitfire airshow routine you flew .....is it on the DVD? I would love to see that again.
Thanks for popping in Chaps

Yes indeed Paul, but not just now, and not on this system.
I can't imagine what the next leap could be in flightsim ....

It will be full fledged VR, and it's what I am holding out for in MSFS.
This will surely open possibilities that haven't existed in the flightsims.
Sharing the experiences you've had will be somewhat more difficult though: not as if you could just pop a screenshot.

Marty, honestly I can't see anything wrong, it isn't as if you are collecting all your fingernail clippings in a jar.... If you have the disc space, then why not? One day they might be worth something.

I like the way you think....
I've only started to think about the possibilities, after reading 'Ready Player One' a couple of weeks ago. Quite a good read, with all the cultural references, many of which go back to my days, late 70s and early 80s. I wanted to see the film, just to see how it handled these references. I decided I couldn't afford the rental on Youtube, but when I mentioned this to my daughter, she sent me a $10 gift voucher from the MS store. Lovely daughter, terrible movie.

I can't even get into VR in Xplane, or any other Vr enabled game. Not because of my pc - I specced this one based on the MSFS 'ideal' requirements so god knows it has the grunt - but because I can't for the life of me work out how to start. I can't just wander down to PB Tech and say "I'd like a VR please", and I don't know enough to start buying bits online, so I really don't know where to get started. Any tips from anyone that is already doing it ?
Cheers

You can *HIRE* this stuff ??? OMG, I am so onto that !

Thank you !

[edit]
or not, it's actually cheaper to buy a Rift S direct from Oculus than to rent one for a month. So I might do that :)

Just rent it for a week or so to see.
The Rift will be obsolete before MSFS is ready.

MSFS isn't really on my radar for VR, in fact I haven't touched it for ages. Last time I tried it was still only on update 2 or something and horrible. so I put the oh-so-prettiness to one side and went back to the kickass planes I have for the oh-so-stable-and-flyable P3D and XP.

I did think of trying it in Xplane but more than that I was thinking of No Mans Sky and Elite Dangerous and some driving games - even though this conversation is specifically about VR and MSFS that honestly didn't occur to me

I found the Rift S unuseable so was glad I only rented it to see.
If you look at Radar88's video comparisons you will see what HP have done since.

My overwhelming problem is...
I have a very large house crammed full of various Computer Hardware and Software, computer games, controls, and Manuals, publications, etc, dating from the late 1970s/early 1980s to the present.
Nothing ever gets thrown away...EVER!
My house is full of EVERYTHING...
...which worries all my Children in how to get rid of it all, after my demise!
Paul...in Aladins Cave... :uk: .... ....!

P.S. Mention; Sinclair Spectrum 48K, Commodore C64, Amstrad CPC464, Amiga 500 and 1200, etc...and I am your man!... :D ..!
