P3DV4.5 screenshots

Postby Splitpin » Wed Mar 04, 2020 7:28 pm

I know this isn't the place for this, but Im posting anyway as "Tech issues" seems to be overlooked for days and weeks.
So ...I have been having problems with P3DV4 for some time ...was using V3. Anyway last weekend I deleted the whole thing (V4) and spent a lot of bandwith re installing V4 .....almost reached out for help, but soldiered on and got it sorted.
Nice new clean install and stable (4.5) set it up...upgraded my orbx stuff ....loaded my JF Vulcan ....took some(I thought) great screenshots ....but nothing!!
The folder(P3DV4.5) appears in my pictures folder .....but no shots :ph43r:

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Marty - It looks like P3D created the right folder, but does your screen grabber know the path to it? It might still be looking for the v3 or v4 location.
Also, if you know (roughly) what sort of filenames would have been allocated, you could search for something similar and you may well find them somewhere else. I think Win10 allows multiple pastes from the clipboard, not just one at a time, but I could be wrong.
AFS2 includes a default screenshots folder, so I just press S to get a screenie, but their naming drives me up the wall. If I want to step through in IrfanView the screenies I took recently, I need to go backwards and even then, all "Screenshot 001"s are grouped, regardless of date.

Cheers, Mike

Just to clarify, you're talking about 'v' key screenshot? I know you can choose the file type for screens in P3d, but I don't think there are any other settings. I do seem to recall a problem with a particular sim, where screenshot didn't work if the windows went off screen, so are you using full screen or windowed?

One more thing - maybe check that the v key hasn't been hijacked by the sim.
Sorry, previous post was grammatically suspect, as typing this on my phone.

Thanks for the replies gents .... havent had time to much but will start today.
I have checked that the "V" key is assigned , did try it in windowed mode ..nothing.
Mike , I dont have a screengraber that Im aware of ...used to use screenhunter in fs2004 , but since then its just been the V key and they appeared in the folder made by P3D.
I do edit with Picasa , but Im pretty sure that dosent grab them ...I think.

Marty, I was using the word in a general sense, cos that was quicker than typing 'whatever button you use to get a screenie'
That said, when you are checking differences and changes, updates are prime suspects. Not sure if you get everything via Steam, but they have a File Integrity Check thing which could help. And of course, just to keep things simple, there are reports elsewhere of the latest Win10 update breaking things (again!!)

PS I can do you a deal on toilet rolls - buyer collects  :arrr:
