Auckland Fireworks Last Night

Anyone know what there fireworks in the domain were for last night? I was watching them from my living room at about 10pm, and although not an uncommon sight, we could actually hear the bangs and booms from half way across the city which is a 1st- even the Skytower New Year's pyrotechnics are usually silent! The actual visual displays were pretty unique, with the sparks falling in dome shaped patterns which I'd never seen before. Was fascinating to watch.

I'm guessing it's something to do with the Chinese New Year perhaps, seeing as there were heaps of them out in town on Friday night with their lanterns? Not too sure of how thier calender works, but didn't hear any mention of it on tonight's news bulletins..

It was for the 'Big Gay Out' I think, being held down Albert Park ways (or round there somewhere).

I stood out on my doorstep and had a look, it was impressive.

It was for the end of the Chinese New Year lantern festival.
