On 3 News around 10mins ago it was announced that a private jet was making an emergency landing because of no brakes. Then 5mins ago it was announced that the plane safely landed.

Not sure what brakes failed though (reverse thrust or wheel brakes)

A lot of aircraft have a brake pressure gauge. Also, you can press the toe brakes and if there isnt resistance, you may have a problem.

hmmm my initial thoughts were 'Private jet' + 'no brakes' + massive runway = No issue.

Looks like i was correct...but again, the media does like to report any little thing when it comes to aviation.

it hasn't been a very good week (an year) for aviation lately.

There was this, the bomb scare the DHL 727 the 737 at Ohakea etc.

Really.. the news reporter proably wouldn't even be able to tell the differance to a landing with no brakes and one with. <_<

hmm how mnay car crashes were there today, were people were actuly hurt.

I guess that because aviation incidents are alot rarer and the fact that plane crashes are far more spectacular that they are more interesting to watch=more viewers.

Really, when you think about it, Media Corporations are just big groups of bloodsuckers (

) that want you to watch their TV channels, buy their newspapers/magazines, listen to their radio stations and visit their websites. All so they can say that more people view their media than other media, which equals more money the advertisers fork out.

We might therefore assume that they don't give a rats ass about what they publish, only that it should get people reading it. "A near-fatal plane accident" sounds a lot more interesting than "A car ran off the road", you need proof? What are we talking about here?
