So to fill up a 400L plane it would cost over $800.00 That is

na na na, its around $1.30 depending on which company and it chainges like every week. It is usually around the same as 96 form the gas station WITHOUT all the road taxes. Unfortuantly joe blow cant buy aviation grade avgas (there is a difference, usually age and quality) and it is not easy to get a card, I got one a couple years ago but it took like a month, had to have like various references an stuff and then have application approved. I dont think its ilegal to buy avgas for non aviation purposes but just made to be hard to get, although most aeroclubs will sell it to you, at a marked up price ofcourse :P

Boy racers in Auckland have been known to siphon the high octane av-gas out of the parked aircraft at Ardmore for a bit of a boost at the drags sometimes! :o

Here, avgas (100LL) is typically £1.33, and petrol £0.96 for 95 octane unleaded and £1.01 for 99. I believe NZ uses 91?
