see this is why Boeing is better than Airbus. Airbus announces that they are building the A380. 10 or 11 years later its only just been made and the first customer still hasn't got their aeroplane yet.
Boeing announces their plane and 5 or 6 years later it's getting rolled out and the first customer gets theirs in less than a years time (airbus its 2 to 3 years time)

As ZKTOM said to me "If it's not Boeing it's not Going"

Is the 787 and 777 (NOT combined) quieter than a 747? I thought it was then thought they have to move something that big very far. If they are quieter.....BRING 'EM DOWN TO WELLINGTON!!!!!

Well, although people realised that building the A380 would be difficult, I don't think anyone could have envisaged the amount of trouble they are going through. One of problems at the moment is the engine manufacturers getting the efficiency in their engines - not really an airbus problem in my opinion.

Airbus have done exceptionally well in my opinion, there really was no precedent they could have used, a lot of the technology and know-how had to come from scratch. Whereas with Boeing, they have been building and refining their twin-engine aircraft for quite some time now, with the 767-400, 737NG's, and 777's. The step for Boeing to build the 787 was not as large as it was for Airbus to build the A380, I feel. ;)

Still, will be great to see the 787 in regular service. :)

WTH? Kelburn, that is complete cr@p and you know it! Look at how big the A380 is compared to the 787! Also, the A380 is a HUGE technological step in aviation, the 787 could have been designed by any plonka who knows a bit about aircraft.

Looking forward to flying on one though :D

I dont want to enter anything here but I believe this statment should be reversed. The 787 is a huge step in technology,- thats the whole idea of it, otherwise they wouldnt bother. They would just stick with the 767 and produce it forever. However the A380 is old technology made big for more seats, thats the whole idea of that. 787- Step up in technology, A380- Step up in size. Simple as that

Hey that's my punchline you thief! :ph43r:

Jokes ;)

787- Step up in technology, A380- Step up in size. Simple as that

The 787 to me will be great however as a passenger I'd prefer the A380-more space and luxury.
The sheer size of the A380 is a tech. advancement it FLIES! The 787 is just an upgrade of a 767/737.

I'd still rather crash in a boeing than an airbus though. Especially not the A380-too much fuel :(
