Hi all .. little late , spent most of my time at the airshow touchin/playing/viewing , I would need to count the pics i did , to most would just blow rassberries

This little post is more to show the engine startup procedure .. and recall a person on this site askin if they really start up like this ! OOOO yeah !
This is starters for Lawie 'Snowman" and Craig 'KIWIUSA' , Gokanru and Don .

Biggest continuely use piston engine uesd on a aircraft ... 3500 hp , on this plane , these were de - rated to 2900 due to lack of fuel (octane0 level ) .

I agree with Lawrie,The Connie,above all others was the Queen of the skies.Somewhere I have an FS version of the Connie,not sure if it is for 2002 or 2004,will have to look around for it.Was fortunate enough to view the Connie in Australia when it attended the Kingaroy airshow,and yup, she is one big mother.

What a fantastic aeroplane, right up there with the C46 and the B26! 

A Marauder Man .. Now that was a very one prity machine , The Connie beats that buy ... heck 3 maybe 4 flyin , Martins Jobby prob 2 , they are both amazing planes .. C46 yip ... At CHCH airport when 1 off the 2 taxied past .. myself ' kneehi grasshopper size ' but stuck in brain case , since followed all about them .

Actually the B26 I was thinking of was the Invader. That became the B26 when the Marauder went out of service in the late 40s. But your right, the Marauder was a very pretty aeroplane. As for the C46, I have never seen one fly but I saw a few in the states. My old man assures me that they are quite something else!!! Your a lucky man Ian, being able to remember all those sorts of things, I was born too late for everything, the Lady Wigram trophy races, the early Deep Freeze machines, Having all the military gear at Ballentynes, everything!!!

Ian - does it sound anything like a DC-6? I have not seen a Connie let alone one fly but did hear/see a DC-6 flying very low over our house when they were spraying for what ever moth in Auckland a few years ago - it sounded great - maybe somebody will bring a DC-6 back to NZ in Teal colours one day.

Hi Peter , The 1st time i ever saw a Connie , is was called 'Pegasus' but was a Operation Deep Frezze base during the season in Christchurch , only other in VX6 unit being 'Phoenix' .
Pegasus crashed on the ice Oct 1970 , ice runway name after it .

Pretty much sound the same Paul , the 'Wright Turbo Compond' has more moving parts than anyother piston power'd aircraft, its the flames at night make it unbeivable

That is amazing about the Operation Deepfreeze having a Connie called Pegasus

In KLM service: 22/12/1955 to 04/08/1964 and than sadly scrapped in July 1964
