Extraordinary... parachuting training I read??
Hope we see them at Whenuapai, they seem to be all over the country.

They have been at Whenuapai. The other day 2 of them were chasing each other around the circuit off runway 21. That engine/prop combination makes an odd and distinctive sound on the climb out.

They beat up the Shore again this afternoon, 1300ft.
I went outside to see what the noise was, never heard an aero sound like that anywhere.
Like a Banshee in a can of bolts, bet the folks at Herald Island are pleased we got C-130's instead.

Begging the question: what on earth are they doing here?
Or better, maybe: Why?

Yeah yeah, all Militaryspeak.
But what's behind it all?
Are we going to war in Europe or what?
We should not go to war in Europe.

Training - they are here to fly in unfamiliar territory, and operate alongside us. That's how modern military works - interoperability. Nobody can act alone in time of conflict or need for support, especially us. Always good to have allies.

I think the West is sending message to China that the West is serious about protection and security of Pacific Rim.

I saw cool video of landing of German Air Forice's brand new A321-251NX(LR) at NZWN before heading to Woodbourne

Watch on youtube.com

Thanks for posting these, Doug.
It's quite a big thing, eh? Sort of fits between a C-130 and a C-17.
Interesting to see all the bits they were carrying about - wondering what vehicle that might be.

I read Germany is mulling re-introducing conscription
