NZ5901 Broken in Mauripur Pakistan ...year unknown.
Believe it or not, she was rebuilt only to be written off in another crash in 1956.
I had no idea that 41Sqn and 3 Sqn spent so much time in that part of the world, they were of course based in Singapore at the time.

Just and add on to this post .....most of the Freighters that were badly damaged were actually taken back to Filton in the UK and fixed there ....well, I thought that was interesting.

As I recall .... the RNZAF "pranged" a couple of their BRISTOL's.

Here's a report concerning the CFIT "prang" near Blenhiem of NZ5908 during 1953 ....

.... and a report coverning the NZ5901 which we pranged whilst supply dropping in Malaysia during 1954 ....

SAFE AIR "broke" one too .... ZK-AYH .... near Christchurch during 1957 (this particular accident uncovered a maintenance/spar concern for all BRISTOL FREIGHTER's worlwide at the time) as per the following-liked report and other reflection ....

SAFE also operated another BRISTOL .... ZK-AYG (the unlucky ship) .... which kept on breaking or getting broken whilst in service with them .... sustaining damage following an off-roading event/a RWY excursion incident during 1951 due to brakes failure after landing (it apparently did this a couple of times throughout it's NZ career), damage sustained by hangar door collapse on the aircraft during a storm in 1954, damage sustained following an aborted T/O also during 1954, damage sustained as the result of a forced landing following engine failure at air show during 1955. It was repaired after each incident/event and returned to service though.

ZK-AYG had an incident/accident history even before being acquired by SAFE AIR during 1950 ....

It was ultimately caniblised for spares .... its fuselage eventually becomming SAFE AIR's ZK-CWF during 1967.
