Hey everyone,

Just wondering if anyone here is a commerical or private pilot here in the real world. I'm currently training for my PPL at the Waikato Aero Club, and am about to start Circuit introduction as my next lesson (no. 10).

Cheers,
Jarred. ;)

Hi Jarred,

I never knew your lessons where counting towards your PPL!

I thought they where just for fun and you had to be 17 to start the real ones?

Whats the story?

Initially they were just for fun (and still are), but I've decided to continue having lessons towards my PPL. You can take lessons at any age as long as you are 16 when ready to solo, which I will be in September. By then I will have had approximately 25 lessons, more than enough to solo.

Cheers,
Jarred. :D

Hi Jarred

I have PPL with 135+ hours, and I am also a (new) member at Waikato Aero Club, having done all my training in Hawkes Bay at Bridge Pa Aerodrome.

Might see you at the club some time!

Thanks for your replies Rick and Aaron, its's nice to have a couple of real world pilots here. No doubt I'll see you at the club sooner or later Aaron! ;)

Was once a real world commercial pilot. Now retired.
Was flying for Rortrua Aero Club.

Got a feeling I should remember Rick66, but just can't place him.

I held my PPL in NZ (and was halfway to my commercial) when I moved to England. Really miss flying but its just no possible here because the numbers are the same as in NZ. Where it was $160 an hour for a C172 in NZ it is £180 an hour here in England.

When I return to NZ in around 10 years I may take it up again, part of my greater plan is to return to retire and run a B&B...with a runway :D

Regards

Mailman

I'm hoping to start PPL training later this year; too busy at the moment unfortunately.
