Hi all
I'm heading over to the Classic fighters airshow at Omaka on April the 6th and 7th - is anyone else coming? I think a couple of the VATNZ members may be attending...

Here is a selection of the aircraft that ARE LIKELY (uncomfirmed) to be at the show:
Fokker Triplanes
Sopwith Camel
Bristol Fighter
DH Tiger Moth, Fox Moth
DH Dragon, Dominie and Dragonfly
Moth Minor
Percival Proctor
PBY Catalina
DC3
P-40 Kittyhawk
P-51 Mustang
F4U Corsair
harvard
Nanchang (maybe Nelson Aero club one?)
Chipmunk
Super cub
Yak 52
Cessna Bird dog
CT4 Airtrainer
Pitts Special
DH Caribou

And of course our RNZAF. The main displays are on 10am-4pm on the 6th, 7th and 8th.

So who else can I expect to be there?

***EDIT***BTW after reading through this it seems like I'm an advertising executive or something....I'm not :ph43r: :ph43r: :ph43r:

I'll be there - just trying to work out how I'm getting there at the moment.

Can fly across for the day with air2there for around $180 return.

Probably how I'll go...unless Vincent is going across - anyone know?

I might hitch a ride over with the aeroclub or with the military vehicles guys. Depends on work and also wether the organisers can get off their arses and tell us wether they want us there in the ground theatre. On the plus side though, this is a really good airshow.

Already tried emailing Vincent - no reply...

Doesn't sound like there is anywhere available to stay down there, so it's definitely a day trip for me. Air2there are offering flights to Blenheim/Woodbourne from either Paraparaumu or Wellington and there is a shuttle to get across to Omaka. So that sounds like the ticket.

Gotta book soon though as everything will fill up fast.

Looking forward to it though :D

I am! Wouldn't miss it for the world. Going to fly down in a chartered C180 on the Saturday, as much as I'd love to stay for the whole show not sure if I'd be able to. Pilot Warrior, we have a spare seat if you're keen! Just PM or email me!

Very muchly looking forward to seeing the Spitfire Mk.Vb, oh my goodness will that be cool! Also hoping Graeme Frew's Yak will be ready, same with the Be.2e and it'll be great to see the RAAF Caribou.

So hopefully be able to meet up with some of you guys? It;'d be great to put faces to names.

Yes, I live in Whitby, up the coast, but I work in Wellington city.

Sounds like there are a few of us in Wellington.

From delightful, rustic Wanganui Aerodrome at the crack of dawn. Great flight last time, lil bit of turbulence over the Sounds, otherwise marvellous! And p*ssing down with rain on the way home! Great fun.
