Squirell ZK-HZN lifting off at Turoa

A place for 'real world' pilots and aviation enthusiasts to discuss their hobby

After seeing HWs post yesterday I was a little worried that I'd seen the last flight of this particular machine, turns out it wasnt this helo involved in the incident.

Sorry about the crappy detail (blame my old Nexus S phone for that) but here's a pic of the Palmerston North based Squirell ZK-HZN lifting off at Turoa ski field yesterday arvo. Just happened to be sitting in the car waiting for the whanau to vacate the ski field. Pretty impressive departure too, for anyone who knows this ski field, the chopper lifted off a few meters then just plummeted down and left into the huge valley you can't see behind where the chopper is in this pic. Be quite a ride for the passengers...

Almost looks like one of my incomplete drawings except I drew the 350 in colour pencil , only reason I'd go up a mountain is to get the helicopter ride, me and snow don't mix ... turns me into a ice-stick.

Bugger ! all planned and things go wrong , I got blamed years back for an incident (fun tho) few drinks after work , we started boast how fast we could run, funny I practically can run up a wall or least back then ... here we were out the front porch of the business I was working for .. having races to the corner lamp post and back 200 meters total I guess ... bang off I went .. no catching me already on the return the boss tried to slow me - a side step and Crunch ! laugh.gif did his Knee in ... I was blamed for there inactive Christmas holidays for even two years later by his wife ..... laugh.gif

"Ya not having a few beers and dares after work on Fridays anymore !" ..... So did you get the Helicopter ride down the mountain then ?

Nah, but would ALMOST have been worth it to fake a more serious issue, of course not if I got stung for the callout fee
