Ohh that is expensive! It used to be about the same as car gas. That would have been back in the 'good old days' when there was lead in the fuel. They didn't play around with the brew the same way they did with the motorist. Too many risks involved like aromatics and such.
Back when I was a hoon and didn't have kids and a mortgage I and some of my friends would plane the heads on our V8's quite a bit to get the compression ratio to 13:1 or above and then run them on Avgas. Trouble was we would end up with race cars instead of street cars! I had an inlet manifold that didn't flow right untill about 4500 RPM and the cam profile was that under that RPM I'd be spitting raw fuel straight out the exhaust pipe! So at $2.60 a litre that would be a very hungry engine! I did find a solution back then and it was to take up flying lessons!
2 wrongs don't make a right but 2 Wrights made an aeroplane!
