NZVO

A place for 'real world' pilots and aviation enthusiasts to discuss their hobby

Postby Alex » Thu Jan 18, 2007 11:36 am

Hi guys,

This morning I went down to the waterfront and took some photos around NZVO, for Jon, and I thought I might as well upload some and let you guys have a peek. :P
So, with no further ado, here they are;

ZK-VAS and ZK-EFI at the Volcanic Air Safaris Jetty

The other Cessna, I didn't quite get the rego on this one, as it was waay out in the lake...

And they have Avgas there as well, that was news to me

The departure gate

Boat fuel :P

Two of the VAS aircraft at the dock

Another pic of the elusive Cessna

A little overview of the VAS place, the pieces of wood with tires on them are for the planes to come up to, and the elevated platform in the foreground on the left side is a 'heli-platform' :P

Looking left over to Mt. Ngongotaha

user posted image
Warning sign on the gate

user posted image
A much friendlier sign, right above it

Looking back across to the various little tourist operator buildings

VAS Windsock

The VAS booking building and terminal

One of the other operator's jetties

An I-Station, for some reason I like these things :P

There is no reason for you not to!

I also made a little panorama thing (click here), its not very well done, but gives you an idea of the location. ;) (745k).

Thanks for viewing,

Alex

Edit; The rego of the Cessna way out in the lake is ZK-FEO, for anyone who is interested. ;)

I've seen the aircraft pressed up against the fence (literally) at the airport on little trailers (I think), but how they get them up there beats me...
But no, as far as I know they aren't amphibian, although I don't really know a lot about them ;) .

These are great Alex and have wet my appetite to see the complete set. Seeing these has inspired me to build a few additions to the scenery over and above the default FSX scenery items.

No, unfortunately not, its landed at the hotel I work at, but I don't usually bring my camera to work, otherwise I would have got some shots. :P
I did a quick search on airliners.net and came up with a couple of good results here. ;)

Thanks for the link Alex, I could've sworn I'd been there and drawn a blank.
That Squirrel is 100x the aircraft that the Jetranger is, even the way it looks is so svelte :ph43r:
