Just seen on TV in Sweden that SAS Airlines will be introducing finger print checks at check-in and then again at the gate, supposedly to ensure that the person checking in the bag actually gets on the aircraft.

They have assured people that the electronic fingerprints will be erased once the aircraft has departed but...????

How much further will it go? Iris scans, fingerprints, body X-rays? Check in time soon 4 hours before the flight?

Why are SAS so security conscious?

It's not like Scandinavia is a huge terrorist target or anything...

I had the fingerprints taken (first time in my life) when I transitted the USA, and felt like a criminal then.

Not sure why SAS are doing this, perhaps there is some pressure from outside of Sweden, but it is a worrying trend.
