ThuderMustang - fastest piston plane in NZ. Basically a scaled down Mustang without the weight

I'm really sorry now that I didn't make WOW 06.
But seeing those Vampires reminds me how much I hated the jets at WOW 04.
My prize video sequence, after a day of amateurish zooms and shakes, was the last appearance of the Breitling Fighters.
Can you imagine the mighty sound of a Mustang, Spitfire and Hurricane hotly pursued by a Corsair, flying straight at you with a follow-me wingover down the runway centreline?
None of which can be heard on the video, courtesy of the jet sitting right next to the grandstand at the hold-short, revving for its takeoff after the display...
I went out and bought a CD of Aero Sounds and patched it over, a very poor substitute for the real thing.

Thanks for posting those, reminds me of another work in progress, and needing to be finished!

Other jets there were the Hunter and if you want loud (and flames) the F-111

Omaka next year sounds good if you missed WOW Spitfire Mk V, Corsair, heap of WW 1 a/c etc

Is the CV-580 a repaint for AI?

I have bought the WOW 06 DVD but yet to watch it - must do this soon.

I'll look out for the DVD.
The Convair is a FS2k2 flyable that I use for AI - I was a pax on it, chartered for WOW 04

That Pionair Convair comes into Rotorua a lot. A big tour group from the US called 'Tauck', comes down from Auckland, stays one night at the Duxton Hotel (where I work :P ), and flies out to Mount Cook the next day...

Great pics as well. :D

Great pics Naki!

It sure looks like a very busy event down there in Wanaka, and I would love to go one year.

I think it is particually neat how they have commerical aircraft there along with the private ones (ANZ and Vincent Air in the background). That's something you don't see at the NZAR shows now is it! Speaking of this- does anyone know when the next Ardmore display is planned for?
