PPL and CPL

Read the book... do the chapter reviews... do the sample exam... go through the syallabus and make sure you can "answer" every point listed.

The real trick tho... is don't rush the exam... you have plenty of time... make sure you read the question, then read it again... then read it a 3rd time just to make sure...

You can usually discount 2 answers straight away... If it is still a paper exam, i tend to cross out the letters of "Bad" answers... so you usually end up with 2 answers that it "could" be... then you just have to decide which one is MORE correct...

some people say the ASL exams are more a test in exam technique than knowledge of the subject

you have your KDRs now so just get those stuck into your head, and a good study technique for that exam is flash cards, it sounds silly but i owe most of my exam passes to flash cards. give it a go mate, goodluck

Yea I've got all the books. I just noticed that the sample exam answers in them give you the page to find the info on the answer. I marked all those pages. Might give flash cards a go and put all the stuff from those chapters in. Thanks, guys.

Is there a place you can get those past exams and answers? Other than the pilotbooks ones?

Nope, they keep them under wraps. The only others I have seen are the ones at NAC. They arnt ASL ones but they are made up of questions from past exams.

Sorry to break the trend of the conversation. I know this is a PPL & CPL page but can anyone point me in the direction of some solid ATPL study material?
ive asked and asked but i just been told people have there own personal notes...ASL changes the dam syllabus every six months so it seems so it needs to be solid traning...? anyone else in the same boat?

After months and months of waiting for a flight test, I finally sat it and passed my PPL today! My previous instructor upped and left for Oz, then my new instructor began teaching C-Cat school and had no time to fly, added together with long spells of unflyable weather and inconsistant practice, my total hours are already just over 100, however it all counts towards my CPL so I'm a happy chappy. Looking forward to getting out of the Ardmore GAA and doing lots more cross countries now.

Remember in the good ol' days of paper exams you were able to get practice exam papers from ASL......??

I've got CPL PoF next week and wondered if anyone had one of these 'just lying around doing nothing...!' that I might be able to have a look at

Passed. Thanks for asking.

Completely the opposite way round for me - I nearly aced Air Tech but 'achieved' my worst mark with PoF!! Refer to my thread re: PoF exam being a test of English comprehension as opposed to technical knowledge - this was borne out by the KDR to which I knew 90% of the answers. It's apparent from all the conversations you have and opinions you hear that ASL just don't appear to listen to feedback thought so what ya gunna do!!!

That's it for the CPL theory though - I'm done

Congrats mate, yea I've done all my exams for the year now as well, then I've just got the IFR ones to look forward to early next year...and then ATPLs after that lol
Just need to get another 10 hours PIC, sort out my KDR's and then I should be ready for my cpl flight test with Graham Leach.

I presume you have done your cpl x/c flight test as well?

Thanks. Good effort and well done on your exams too.

I'm looking at doing a C-Cat........so it's back into PoF big time!!!! ATPL isn't on my radar - you know, never say never but I'm hoping/intending to go the instructor route for the foreseeable future.

I've got exactly 99hrs PIC at the moment and need around 5 hrs more to give me the magic eligibility hours - then it's revision time in preparation for the test. I also need to think about building the 150 PIC I need for the C-Cat.

Only that which was imparted to me once - always ensure equality in numbers between your take offs and landings!!

Seriously though, with regard to IR. I was asked what my plans where and how I planned to use it....... "If you don't think you'll make use of it in the short term, leave it until you need it. It's expensive to get and expensive to maintain" was the advice. Just thought I'd share.

I'd do the exams and some training to get your head around it.. but leave it at that till you need it. When it comes time you need it you can do a bit of revision and the flight test and you're away laughing...

Hi guys,

Thought I would ask for some help/advice

Just going through my CPL Air Law KDR and managed to answer all the items on my KDR sheet except the following which firstly I don't quite understand what it's asking and secondly can't really find the answer to it..

"16.32.2 State the airworthiness requirements for aircraft used on air operations CAR 135"

Now I looked in the 'Pilot Books' Air law and couldn't find anything that helped and I also had a look on the caa website under 'Air Operations'

Does anyone out there have any advice or help they could give me as I'm stuck trying to find it out and don't really know where to start!! lol
