Sorry Zac no more photos - flys very well though.

I read somewhere where one of the Aussie Pup replicas was for sale but I can no longer find the site/mag - maybe it was in the lastest Classic Wings - read it in a book shop so I don't have a copy.

I bet she does - I have a pilot's report that says the real thing is a delight! Only thing that mars it is having to put up with a rotary!

Yup, one for sale in the latest Classic Wings, was talking with Graham the other day and she's in the States and reasonably priced. Looks like a good buy...oh for some spare cash! Would be pretty awesome to see a Pup fly with the Camel at Omaka B-) .

Read it in the shop? BUY BUY!!! Great article on Kevin Bailey's Stinson, not to mention my boss's awesome centrespread and the cover...go the Triplanes!

Hi Zac

I borrow my fathers Classic Wings when I can - I don't think the wife would be too happy if I get yet another magazine (I buy Pacific Wings and Air International every month) to clutter the house!

Are you working for Classic Wings? Whats going on in Blenheim in the restoration scene?

Yes the Gullwing Stinson - one of my favourite 30's aircraft - if I had the money I would import one (along with few other aircaft like a Jungman, Stampe and a Waco YMF-5).

Working for Graham? That would be a dream come true! No, just involved here and there, currently a Hangar Rat par excellence and occasional AHC guide, with a rather major project coming up on the horizon. ;) I'd like to submit some stuff for CW, but I think Graham has the Omaka scene pretty much covered! Watch this space, all the same.

Hell, $8.95 ain't that much! Get me your bank account details and I'll give you the money myself! :P

Re your import ideas, fantastic! My ex-girlfriend was extremely keen on the YMF-5, and a mate of mine here (who is also a part-owner in one of the Nanchangs) is very enthusiastic about bringing in a Waco in the future - we'd love to see some more US biplanes join the Fleet 16b on the field!

As to what's going on restoration-wise, there's not much I think I can tell. Some liaison types, a possible twin import, significant WW1 project coming up, Graeme Frew's Yak-3 is still progressing well (I check in with Mike as often as possible, that Hawk 75 is gonna be spectacular!), funny you should mention the Jungmann....not gonna stay a Jungmann for long, tho B-) . Wayne and the Antique Aeroworks crew have three exquisite biplanes underway, one has been a very long-term project and I can tell you, the wait will most certainly be worth it! Three words: "oh", "my", and "goodness".

If you're keen I can pass on copies of the MWA's "Contact" newsletter - the editor, Marty Nicoll, is a former Fokker Fixer - and details on how to join. The newsletter comes out roughly bimonthly, and the membership fee is only $40. Some nifty perks go along with it - like helping out on projects! If you're keen PM or email me. The newsletter is a fantastic way to keep in touch with the goings-on out here - next best thing to actually being here. Hehe...you could always do what I did, and just move down here. I can tell you Graham, Adam and I will be needing an extra pair of hands soon!

Interesting stuff Zac - Hey sounds great getting to be around things you are passionate about. :) A twin project - would that be the Bleheim? The Hawk 75 sounds great & the Jungmann/biplane/WW1 projects sound intriguing.

Are you able to post some progress pictures of the Hawk 75 & the Yak 3 and the Fleet 16 as well?

Yep might just get the latest issue of CW as it has the Stinson in it.

I am afraid Tauranga is where I plan to stay but hey we have a nice aircaft museum up here which I intend to join. I'll PM you later.

Cheers

Paul

At the risk of hijacking the thread - sorry folks! - I've been asked to refrain from posting pics of the Hawk for a while, I'll see about the Yak today and tomorrow when I'm out there (Mike normally is working in his hangar all Sunday); upload some Fleet shots tonight (had a ball washing her the other day! ); the potential twin is something of US origin, and is only being talked about ATM, but watch this space; I'm hoping to kickstart the Blenheim as interest has unfortunately tailed off for the time being, but the WW1 project I mentioned will be taking precedence above all else for me time-wise; Tauranga? Fair enough, too! I'll have to get up there at some point - I'll see if Adam and I can borrow a Nanchang and we can visit ya!

Feel free to PM! Or txt me, I can give you either Telecom or Vodafone numbers depending on what you use.

Nice outing!
Sure the Cub is amazing, but ain't that Beech sumpin?
Many years ago a mate and I dreamed of building a 1:20 scale B-52 and I haven't forgotten the sense of awe the idea gave us.
It would've been nearly 3m long.
But as someone has mentioned, can you imagine actually flying something that took a thousand manhours to make??

Hey Charl how about this B-52 - 8 jet engines!

here

here

and here with an unfortunate end
