What medicals miss , A friend Graham flew 146 for Ansett , his regular medicals did not pick up on a problem - It was not until he took his son to the Doctor that then the doc had more interest with Graham, picked up on pasty skin and deep voice and few other things ... the thyroid glands were shutting down, he was told while driving his 146 he simply could have died.

Yes an incredibly sad and disturbing event. I have both flown and socialised with Ann for more than 3 decades. Latterly it was on the mighty 747.
She was one of aviation's "Grand Dames". An infectious smile with a warm and engaging personality. A dedicated mother and a very competent aircraft handler.
Ann was on her last checkout ride (there's an irony there) on the 787. After touchdown she slumped forward and was instantly unconscious and never regained it.
She will be missed as a colleague but more importantly as a friend.
My sincerest condolences to the Barbarich-Bacher family.
A true loss to NZ aviation.

Saw the five ship Harvard group flying in a missing man formation before completing a flyby over the cathedral in Parnell on Friday morning where her service was being held. RIP

Yes the missing man formation really tugs at the ole heart strings.. She was carried out to the musical track "Jump" by Van Halen (I think). An uplifting song and appropriate given her parachute jumping days.
