Perhaps it was the Fijian Army Leader or Prime minister on VIP transport?

Was it in RNZAF colours or something different?

That was to do with part of the Fijian Royal Family evacuating from the troubles. They do not want the new pride and joy of there Airline torched by some looters.

I am wondering what is the current status of A3-AWP formerly ZK-AWP a DC3 that used to belong to Pionair that PEAU VAVA'U purcahsed?

Would that be the Tongan Royal Family? Although Fiji is going through a rough patch (again...), I don't think it has a royal family. ;)

My Dad told me that on the news today, he saw the Fijian primeminister being driven out to his aircraft at (what he thought was) Auckland Airport. He said he was surprised to see him getting into an older looking propeller aircraft rather than a fancy jet, and when I asked him was it a Herclues, he said it looked more like the Air Chathams green colored Convair... not sure how accurate this info is considering my Dad's knowledge of aviation, but there ya go!

from what i saw on the news, the fijian military commander took an ANZ 737 to NZAA then a FJI 747 to NFFN. whereas the fijian prime minister took the NZ air force's 757 direct to fiji.
