Excellent pics! I still have fond memories of flying SJC from Auckland to Christchurch and back when she was still in the colors of Freedom Air (and Freedom still did domestic routes).

When did Air Chathams change their colors? Weren't they green before?

Trolly you have a way with a camera for sure. In that thumbnail, what's the Emirates aircraft? A340-300? Great action shot I thought

Thanks Jimmy, bigdogshark62 and Charl.

I also think these pics came out pretty well, but not as good as my last 2 batches, as they where taken in the crisp early morning light and these lot where done in the hot glary midday sun- but I didn't mind trading off picture quality for a wider variety of aircraft and airlines. I still had a lot of fun being up so close to the heavies, I could really smell that strong engine paraffin smell yesterday B)

The thumbnail shows an Emirates A340 landing behind the ANZ 777. I didn't think it came out that good because the bottom half of the aircraft is hidden behind the 777 fuselage- if I had the camera at a higher angle it would have been a different story.

As for Air Chathams, I have seen both their green and red aircraft at NZAA before. I think they have more than one aircraft in different livery's. Search airliners.net and see what you can find!

went out to auckland intl. this morning and took some piccies of incoming aircraft. must be the same time as Trolly went because the aircraft are identical. camera is a nikon d70s but i'm not particularly impressed with the results (no retouches). here is a sample:
