I gave it a quick 5 min test flight earlier, really nice and easy to fly (compared to the 747,767 and 737 from POSKY).

Looks very very nice.
The VC looks just great.
A bit hard to believe that it's a free aircraft from POSKY.

Looks really nice - what would be awesome was if there was some way to get real charts onto the viewers there, maybe by placing images in a folder or something? Probably in the realms of imagination, but that would be sweet. smile.gif

No, it would be a texture so you would have to copy a picture of a chart on the texture. Only problem is it won't be interactive. eg. if you were flying from AA to LAX, you couldn't have NZAA charts then switch to LAX charts without changing the texture files and reloading the aircraft.

Actually that could work. Make up a few sets of texture each with different charts.

-cockpitcharts.nzaa
cockpitcharts.lax ..... etc

Then when en route, save your flight, change over the textures. open flight sim, file load a flight. Then that would reload the aircraft, and there would be a fresh of charts on the dash. smile.gif

Good thought Alex smile.gif

WOW, that VC looks better than a payware PSS, from the screenshots!

The VC is only textures.
I want an Air NZ but mainly a Singapore!!!

Not such a bad idea with textures, but what would be really great is if someone could rig some kind of addon to let you do things like that.
I wonder what kind of effort would be needed for that sort of thing or if it's even possible.

Here you go: http://www.projectopensky.com/downloads-index.php

Not a lot of repaints listed yet, but I'm sure it will be rectified in the next few days.

Don't worry if you can't download it yet, the POSKY servers were over loaded earlier on when it was first released. I don't imagine it getting any easier in the next few hours as the US starts to wake up.

All that would be involved is an application that can swap files (textures) from a folder to the FS texture folder. I guess if someone could develop this (that could be set up to allow a number of aircraft and textures) then I guess it would work. But if it could somehow interact with FS, save the flight, swap the files, then reload that saved flight, that would be cool, but otherwise you could just do it manually.

If this were used on a aircraft with an FMC though (unless it allowed you to save the FMC data currently used) then it would erase all the FMC flightplan and data. A bit of a pain to get it working again. However if you used an external FMC,( which you would have to if you wanted to fly a flight plan on a freeware AC) like vasFMC then it would not erase the data (I think)

... or even program it as a gauge and have it pull pictures from a folder.. but anyway, I don't know much about that so I'll leave it there. smile.gif

I heard that the FSWidgets has something like that, but an external program. Maybe worth a look if you're interested.

Never fear.. the posky aircraft aren't hosted by posky themselves, they are linked back to the avsim library.
You don't need the posky page either at the moment, as tonight they are all linked as new downloads on the avsim front page. So go get'em! biggrin.gif

Thanks for the heads up Alex.
When you say external program does that mean that FSWidgets doesn't integrate into the cockpit much?
Or is it basically like what we're talking about except not integrated into FS the way an aircraft addon is for example?

Finally managed to assemble the beast, complete with VC.
I pronounce it very good. biggrin.gif
Screens to follow, (if someone doesn't beat me to it!)
