Good luck with it, as I've said before, I will only join your new VA if it offers me something better than vANZ, of which I am a member.

Competition can be a useful thing.

All the best, Ben. Just one question though, why name it the same as an existing operation? Seems odd to me.

Now I was thinking Ben you being the CEO of the "New" VANZ you will require a pilot to fly you around in a helicopter will you be taking applications for this "vacancy" there will be plenty of interest.

Good luck to you Ben, I look forward to seeing what you can create. It would be great to see a truly professional VANZ out there. Be wary of the commitment it will take to be there for it 7 days a week, 365 days a year, for as many years as you can. A VA is a bit like a tree, you have to keep watering it or it'll die. Pilots will join and expect the VA to be around "forever". I'd recommend you consider that commitment before you start it up :) Sure it might be rewarding and fun to start with, but after a few years can you still see yourself in the mood to run it?
I don't know you, you might be for all I know, so good luck to you. I hope it goes well for you, just thought I would mention this being a long term va kind of guy that I am. I've experienced a few va's now, and even now only helping to run one, I know how time consuming it is.

Virtual Airlines all offer different ways to members to enjoy their simming experience. Some choose to follow a real-world airline's schedules, others create their own schedules, some offer the chance to fly real world airlines and schedules as well as GA flights.

What they mostly have in common is a way of logging each flight (called a Pirep) and you can then build up a log-book of your flights, gaining seniority in the process.

Some use logging procedures that record your take off time, weight, location, miles flown, cruising speed, route, landing speed and weight and fuel used amongst other things.

You get out of a Virual Airline what you want. I am a member of VANZ, and enjoy the ability to fly in my own country according to schedules and planes that the real ANZ flies. I have enjoyed putting the hours in and moving up through the ranks.

I also am a member or Virtual Pilots Association (VPA). this is somewhat different in that you can fly and log any scheduled, non-scheduled, cargo or GA flight, online or offline. It is a very well run world-wide organisation with many active members. I enjoy being a part of VPA for the community, the freedom and the information on the site itself is worth its weight in gold.

It's like having a goal or aim to your simming. A logbook to look at and see where you've flown, what you've flown and how many ours you've spent in front of your PC (maybe not a good thing!).

When it's all said and done though, you will only get from it what you put into it.

edit - spelling police were onto me

I was simply trying to say will you be requiring a private pilot to ferry you to and from business meetings cos theres no better way to travel than by helicopter and I think natas will agree on that one hahahaha.

Well done Ben and Michael.
I will be happy to support your new VA. A few of us were discussing this exact topic only a couple of weeks ago! It seemed that the other AirNZ Virtual was just too hard to join with people waiting between 1 and 3 months for an e-mail of confirmation! It was generally felt that what ever the reason was this was just not meeting the requirements of some pilots or potential pilots. Therefore it shouldn't be too hard to provide a faster response!
However a very good point made was that this particular Airline has been going for some time, over a year which is good apparently.
Whether the CEO is too busy or lost interest I don't know. If this should happen to you in the future where you feel it is just too much please ask for help from us all who use NZFF. People are very keen to help I have found.
Have you got your own server? Is it possible to give some indication of what we might expect being a pilot?
I will support it the best I can and all the best. :)

We have seen Virtual ANZs come and go! When this one can show more than just a premature annoucement then I will believe it.
Like has been said if you're going to start a VA you need commitment and not be discouraged when things don't go YOUR way.
Good luck but better not to make grand annoucements unless you have something to show for it.

By following the link on Aviator's last post you will find a website called Virtual AirNZ,of which I have registered myself at. That is called something to show for it.
Ben don't be discouraged by any negative posts you may see on NZFF. Most of us are helpful and supportive of anything anyone does that contributes to the FS community and enhances FS and gives us all even more choice.
I suggest it looks like some are interested only when your new VA is a success, yet do not want to do anything to help make that happen, they just want to complain about what is already on offer and cut this tall poppy down to size from the outset. What if anything have these people ever contributed to FS I wonder?
Aviator feel free to PM or e-mail me if there is anything I can do to help, tis a pity Michael has pulled out, I hope you' re not left in the lurch too much. So if it doesn't work out-So what! better to have tried and failed than to have not tried at all!
