My very first simulator was on the Commodore 64, so this seemed appropriate, behind the 'simulator' door. Their actual simulator is a bit flasher, one of these. Graphics are provided by X-plane, hence my X-plane conversion of Taieri.

I removed all the environment occluders, which prevent rain inside the hangars, as they caused more problems than they solved, you can just imagine that the old NAC hangar is leaky, but the flash Otago Helis one must be faulty sprinklers. This is one example of one step forward and two back, in MSFS2024.

I must have owned every computer from day one - except for the Sinclair Spectrum. As far as Commodore/Amiga went, I had the Amiga A500 which was wonderfully over-specified for its time. My first "decent" sim was "Aviator" for the BBC Micro: well written and surprisingly accurate.

MSFS has to be the single most frustrating sim I've ever owned. So much promised to so many but so little delivered [sic].

My first was the Sinclair ZX81. 1 KB of onboard RAM along with my 16 KB of plug in RAM. Yes, that is KBs !!
Visual basic was the programming language and you could spend a day of typing to get 2 bats and a ball as in a tennis game. It all had to be saved to a cassette player.
The plug in RAM was a touchy best. Touch it ever so slightly and would instantly delete all your unsaved programming. I let many new expletives during those days.

CP isn't it amazing how far and fast all this has evolved ....I think my first computer was thing from Dick Smith.
Back to sim puters...I was considering a full NZ make over for XPlane , at 650Gb....so much we take for granted these days.

HHmmm. I saw this earlier on Flightsim.to but it is no longer there.

EDIT. It worked with a general search...must have had some filter on before. Rob, you need to have your PayPal activated or at least the buy a coffee prompt.

I thought paypal was active, but now I've found that it's still a business account, so it won't accept donations. I'm trying to close the account, so I can start again with the same email, but there's a tiny balance, below what I can withdraw. I tried to pay for something, but it just charged my credit card and didn't touch the balance. I have no clue how to contact Paypal, so at the moment I'm stuck. Currently in AI phone hell, hoping to talk to an actual person.

Ok, I managed to talk to a person, seems the only way is to spend the balance, so anyone with a paypal account in NZ, please let me know your paypal email and I'll send you $4.68.

Ok, I've managed to clear my balance and close my account. I'll give them a chance to register the fact then sign up for a personal account.

Paypal are a bunch of total idiots. A transaction I made on eBay got scammed to the tune of $700. A duplicate order was [somehow] created for a fraudelent transaction and my CC was debited. Paypal were singularly unhelpful - and simply refused to acknowledge that their security had been breached. Luckily, ASB/Visa were more than helpful and I managed to get the $700 credited back.

OK ... so I tried to unlink my CC from my Paypal account - and top it up with a direct bank transfer. Nope: not possible from NZ - though they allow it for almost every other country in the world. When asked if they had any plans to make the facility available for NZ, they said they didn't know. What amazes me is that they're quite happy to take money from a NZ CC but not from a regular NZ bank account. They really are a bunch of plonkers.

Yeah, it's been a while since I last used Paypal, and now I remember why. Turns out I won't be able to receive donations so I've removed the button from Flightsim.to.

Does the “buy me a cup of coffee” option also go to PayPal?
Make sure to let us know when it’s sorted so we can donate.
It’s great scenery. Well done.

I hadn't looked at BuyMeACoffee, I didn't realise it was an option there, but I'm trying to sign up at the moment, I'll see how it goes. Stuck on the 'check your email for a verification code', which hasn't shown up yet. At the same time, I thought I'd get my email verified at Flightsim.to, but the same result -- no matter how many times I press 'resend', I don't get any email with a code.
No doubt they'll all come at once some time in the night.

I have one too, but it's been a while since I dared look at it. My biggest customer (maybe my *only* contributor) is someone from this very forum. I could tell you who it is, but then I'd have to kill you

So .. does it link to Paypal? I can't remember!!!!

Folks - try this link:
