Thanks for the heads up Mike.
To be honest I've never bothered with that side of that or any sim....tend to be more of a load a go type.
But its nice to see AFS4 advancing without all the fireworks and fluff some of the other platforms put out...when doing the same.

I'm busy updating War Thunder at the moment (85Gb) AFS4 next....then IL2 and DCS. By the the time I update each of these.....another update is ready :ph43r: , its the multi sim curse , a self inflected injury.

One thing about AFS - their updates just work, out of the box. It is on Steam as "Coming Soon" so probly tomorrow arv. I don't know which midnight they work to, Asia, Europe or USA. I am glad IPACS chose this project ahead of live weather and realistic ATC with runways nominated by wind direction. Global active water should be left to last. When you think how these things need to integrated with the overall sim this is the right way to go.
At the moment, all AFS aircraft are set to something like 70% Max Landing Weight at all stages of a flight. As a result, if you follow procedure for the B773 out of NZAA Rwy 23L for LA, you can be climbing at over 6000 ft/min before you're through the heads. Naturally you can adjust throttle settings to make it behave sensibly, but this update will avoid all that, and the sim will work out Vr, V1 and V2 for you, as well. I like that.

It seems there are actually six updates in the pipeline for December. Item 2 in the Coming Soon list is a B789

Never been able to figure out their target demographic - I bailed when they started focussing on the mobile version.
But, here they are, doing the Next Thing :o which does sound interesting.

They have always aimed at developing a single cross-platform sim, and they seem to have succeeded. Unfortunately the mobile crowd don't appreciate what has been done for them. Talk about casting pearls before swine

   All six parts now available on Steam, for PC users. Mac and Android folk will have to wait a bit longer. I'll let the Northern Hemisphere simmers get to bed and then I'll download it.

Well, just for interest:
0700 I started the download
0740 it was showing 45%
0820 it was showing 100%, and installing
0842 it said Complete
0858 it started loading.
This was taking a very long time and when I looked at Task Manager F: drive where AFS4 lives was at 100% with read and write rates in low 2 figure KB/s.
F:/ is a 4TB external SSD with 3.6TB available for storage.
So I went and read a book for a while and when I came back, the main menu was there and all the new bits were, too.
F:/ now shows 1.75TB free, which is about right.
I am quite sure the problem was not enough space on F: to juggle the file swapping - which generally is three times the space used by the existing installation.

I was going to concoct a crack which employed "There is no F:\ in..." in some way but I have been defeated by your courage
