Seeing as the consumer rift is coming in Q1 2016 I would recommend this software, i've just tried the alpha version and it is pretty cool, the potential is huge.

Take a look here;

Flyinside FSX Kickstarter "VR for FSX"

I could go for a set/pair off those .. just don't get up and go shopping in them , I think this would be an idea to address frame rates problems that many have on lower end systems , other the MP and other areas in flight simulation.

I'm running it in the DK2 and have had no performance issues that cause me grief. Performance is great and seems clearer than the previous DCOC software.

Actually, I'm happy to offer a demo to anyone that wants to give it a go, merely half hour of your time you can get a more immersive experience. If anyone is interested then send me a pm or email kelvin.richardson@clear.net.nz.

Cheers,
Kelvin

Have to question , what is DK2

DK2 is Oculus Rift's model of VR "goggles" that was released a while ago. They were designed for developers of software to enable the developer to create Rift compatible games and simulations.
The public release hardware is targeted for release Q1 in 2016, estimated price $1500us.
Aside from the price, it all sounds interesting...

I'm interested to know if the timewarp feature really does visually smooth out the stutters encountered in FSX - particularly with older/lower-spec hardware or very high graphics settings?

I can see myself getting into this...

Not sure where you got that price from. Oculus have noted the Rift is likely to be cost price. The Dev Kit was ~$350 so I wouldn't think more than this.

Yes it does, have tested it and it's much, much better than the previous software DCOC.

Hard to find any news items which don't point to US$1500 early next year.

That cost refers to what one would need to pay for a computer that would drive the rift as well as the rift itself, "...Iribe said that cost of the Oculus Rift CV1 is $1,500 (PC included)". Take a look at the link below for some insight.

I stand corrected... thanks for clarifying that.
Just hope my old pc will be powerful enough to run it, cos i think this could be quite a game changer for simming

I can guarantee that this is a game changer. Are you in Auckland?

Seems like most of you flight sim folk are down in NZSI.

must be something in the water down here, but makes no difference where we are in an mp... keen flightsimmers seem to be everywhere ;)
Just watched a youtube clip on multiplayer with vr and flyinside-fsx, looked pretty good!
The $500 Question: wait for public rift, or try and get a dk2 now?

PS: does it work ok with payware aircraft like PMDG and Majestic etc?

So far the DK2 works with all aircraft except A2a at this point, not sure but there's a bit of flickering going on, seems to be something with the textures, mipmaps? Anyway I would wait for the consumer rift as DK2 is good, it's no where near perfect. Basically, the DK2 just shows potential for what the CV1 will bring.

Looks like the Kickstarter effort has resulted in full funding still with a few weeks to go for stretch goals. I'm interested in seeing what the final price will be.
