This new driver fixes the problem with Prepar3D, so it is a keeper. I've turned 3D (red/blue) back on for the moment, doing slaloms around the wind turbines...

Which specific problem Rob? ...other than 3D.

The previous driver messed with tessellation, giving weird repeating triangles everywhere. Turning tessellation off fixed it, but since I liked my lations tesselled, I reverted to the previous driver.

Installed the driver this morning , runs in FSX without issues so far .. one off the biggest thing with the drivers and many PCs designed for more the game rather the FS peoples.

I spent last night experimenting with 3D, mainly because I'd read a tip on a forum somewhere recently that increasing the 'depth' improves things, and I was waiting for my 3D to work again to try it out. Although I can't see my cheap glasses as a good solution, they do give an idea of what I could be seeing with a bit of money to spend on 3D. (My glasses cost me $3, and included red and blue chalk:)

After a bit of playing around with the depth (which is set using hotkeys in the sim) I was able to look into the distance of the Hutt Valley, while flying over Wellington (in a copter) and the effect is amazing. Plus the spatial awareness is much improved, I spent an hour roof-hopping, which is so much easier if you can see how close you are...

I was surprised to see that Google Earth is 3D, even Streetview, although I don't know how they do that.

As I said, this isn't a long-term solution, I'd probably go blind in a week, but it is worth a try to enable 3D and get some glasses from the $3 shop.

I updated to Nvidia Driver 344.11 last night and within half an hour rolled back to Nvidia Drive 335.23 as the 344.11 locked my screen down from the 1600 to 1280 or the three screens down from 4800 to 3840

That's no good Doug. I have installed it but yet to give it a try. I didn't install the previous driver due to the problems some where having with tessellation. I had forgotten that fact when I quizzed Rob about the update.
Has there been any noticeable improvement to AA?

I didn't get to fire up FSX as I spent the half hour trying to get my screen res back up and when that failed I did a rollback

Assume it was a clean install, no issues with it and FSx DX10.

Installed the 344.11 driver yesterday & gave it a good run with no issues.

Hmmm, I've had a look at what's actually new, and found it's basically added support for the some new 900 series models and a couple of additional game profiles for 3D - that's it. Or, am I wrong? I have a GTX 750 btw...

I think that is all it dose across the board, it is more support for the gamers, no real noticeable difference for FS.

I found it was smooth, but introduced microstutters into P3D every few seconds. Reverted back to 337.88 and all is well again.

If you saw your NZ scenery in native FSX 3D on a modern active 3D display, I think you'd be rather impressed.
If you want to PM me a postal address, I'll sent a memory stick of SBS and Top Bottom native 3D video & images, so that you can hit up a friend or appliance store into giving you a demo - or of course if you make it to Nelson you're welcome to take a look at mine.
Although I don't run an Nvidia card, I expect they interpolate the 2D image that is generated for the display (and perhaps the DirectX rendering information) to make up a second viewpoint.
The system I work with revolves around a FOV hack that Tomas from DigitalSky (Simpit) put me on to. There's two on screen views, left and right eye, identical apart from a small sideways displacement to give the 3D perspective. Because both views are created by FSX, there is no interpolation, and no mis-interpretation of anything. Whether or not the graphics card has 3D capacity is immaterial for this method.
I run active shutter glasses with a projector, but had a quick look at the result on a passive (polarised) 3D TV recently. My initial impression was that the passive 3D wasn't quite as good, but I've since realised that passive should have top+bottom source rather than SBS otherwise it takes a resolution hit, so that may have something to do with it.

Cheers

It's supposed to have a thing called DSR (above my pay grade) for the new line of "Maxwell" (9xxx) cards. Something to do with resolution, anti-aliasing etc and there's a fix where it can be retro'd into "Kepler" (6xxx 7xxx) cards. Lots of luck with that .
