Well...at first glance...too me anyway, it looks better than the one i have now. This looks right....its all about the nose, so to speak.....this and the carenado 210 maybe my july spending .
Im sure there are others that will consider it a stopgap.......whatever.

A Buy compare , well for starters we see these in Christchurch every summer season , I have the texture detail of the Alpha/Virtavia comparing the screens posted is off higher quality in respect to detail , Area51 is C-17 a good choice at cost , guess depends how much ya like the Globemaster , they are impressive cool.gif

I've been wanting a C-17 in the Hangar for a long time, It gives alot of interesting flight opportunites within FS and when I saw the Area 51 offering I jumped at it.

For how it compares to Alphasim/Virtavia I'm not sure as the price always turned me away from that one, I like my C-17 but not that much. I purchased yesterday and have had a (very quick) play with it today. Visually I'm very happy with it. Exterior looks pretty good compared to photos, a very good VC...perhaps not as great as some but certainly not nearly as bad as others! and another important point for me is that there are already a bunch of paints for it on Avsim covering most operators.

Here are some shots of Interior and Exterior:

The only thing that I would mention against it is that its handling characteristics seem a tad too twitchy...but due to the fact I've never flown a real Globemaster I'm not gonna lean out of the window too far on that point! laugh.gif

I need to compare photos , to compare Area51 to Virtavia , requires a lot off double checking , I have many photos so best i get it correct , at cost 51 is the better but how do they stack up beside each other .

Well I decided to bite the bullet on this one. The price was right and this looks like a very nice addon. I don't have the Virtavia one so I've really nothing to compare it to in that respect. But having flown many hours with the CS 757, LVLD 767, PMDG 747 etc, this aircraft is pretty easy to figure out without a manual. Now granted I just did a short 1 hour flight from KBJC to KCOS, the configuring for flight and setup of the AP is pretty straightforward.

Here are some more screenies. Definitely not as well thought out as Florians. smile.gif I felt the cockpit on this AC is very intuitive.

Landing this bird reminded me exactly of flying one of my commercial addons. With some experience, this thing is definitely a walk in the park. Although for newcomers, its a big thumbs down this doesn't come with a manual. (or at least I've yet to find one) ***EDIT*** Nevermind, found the dl for the manual on the Area51 C-17 main page. http://www.area51sim.com/globemaster.html

Loadin'er up at Rocky Mountain airport. winkyy.gif

Ready for taxi

Flaps? Check! Heading? Check! Altitude set? Check! No smoking/Seatbelt signs? Check... well yall know the rest.

Gear up! Flaps up! AP/AT on! Headin to Colorado Springs.

Checking out the cockpit. Not bad at all. Very framerate friendly indeed.

Localizer captured for RWY 35 and lining up on approach.

Surprisingly great landing flying this bird for the first time!

At the exchange rate , this makes the Aera51 s C17 super cheap , may just knock on their door and see if they are interested in making a C-141 Starlifter , course would have to be all three variants .

Has anyone got ERNIE ALSTON - INTEGRATED SIMAVIONICS GROUP 1 (ISG1) yet? simMarket

If so what is the "C17 style MFD" like in the Virtavia C17 retrofit?

This is on the wish list, but I've blown this month's budget already on A2A's Accusim Cub, Hawaiian Airports Vol 2 and a new Joystick

I have the ISG package. Send me a PM with your email address and I will forward you the PDF that has a description and illustrations of the C17 MFD.

The ISG package is great - though I haven't installed the latest v1.8 update which contains the C-17 gauges, so I can't comment on their usefulness. Regardless, it'll be money well spent if you need to retrofit an aircraft to make it RNAV capable. Just be aware that the navdata (Like most payware addons) is updated via the payware Navigraph system.......

Ahh so the C17 package does have a FMC - thats the only problem with Virtavia's model that there is no working FMC to give you RNAV. Next Month I'll get it ISG then to turn a good model into a better one.

Thanks very much for help for your help Guys - very much apparecated.
