My calculations puts that as 3am Friday the 2nd to 2:59 Saturday the 3rd so yes the website you checked would be right.

Thanks for that ... I'd hate to miss it! I've got my eye on that B-52, though I'm not sure why .... can't actually bomb anything with it!

I've managed to pick up pretty well all the FSX CS add-ons via the sales they've had smile.gif

As I said in a different thread, my C130 should be arriving about the end of the week ... and at that price it might get a 727 and a 757 for company ...

Yay for sales. There's a lot to be said for PMDG's policy of not ever having a sale - if you want a PMDG plane you just buy it because there's no chance of the price coming down later - but there's also a lot to be said for fs9 to fsx upgrade pricing (without which Level-D wouldn't have a second dip into my wallet) and regular sales (without which none of us would have nearly as many CS planes as we do).

Do Nemeth or Dodosim do sales ? I've never paid attention to helicopetrs before ...

Cheers

OK, what are some Capt Sim must haves?
I hear the 130 is more or less their domain, what else? Definitely going to grab some to play in airhauler.

The C-130 is an absolute classic. Has (quite rightly) won loads of awards.

However - if you're into Airhauler, then the B767 is definitely worth having - or the B757 as well, if you can afford it. I also have the B727, which is beautifully done, but I just don't seem to fly it much.

I have issues with my CS 727. It struggles to climb at altitude, even under full power. Replicating the NZAA - YSSY DHL run, I only managed to climb to 21,000ft. Trying to climb above this resulted in a stall, even with only slight increase in AOA. Fell out of the sky in the end, and woke up on a small island. I made friends with a chap named Wilson... He was a man of few words. laugh.gif

Bought the FS9 CS C130 end of last week
Ran the redirect activation as directed, ran the installer - error #11
checked all the info on their support site re running it in vista - tried all the directions to overcome it, including connecting up my old XP machine to internet - ran the installer - error #11
Went through the process described for offline activation - ran the downloaded activation program which generated a TXT file to upload to their support site
3 days later got an email with a activation code to past into the offline activation program - said the installer had been activated
Ran the installer again............Error #11
Done the same on my XP machine.........error #11 server not recognised.
Now to go through the whole process again to get an activation code based on the XP machine... BUT

now wary as had a call from the CC people yesterday saying someone tried to do a $0.01 transaction on the card, but was picked up by their CC security, card cancelled, new card issued......

Someone was 'fishing'....

Only online purchase made in 6 month was the C-130, but through the Flightsim.com Pilot Shop, and am now wary that the activation program that generated the txt file to send to CS also possibly went fishing on the PC....

So upshot is I have a non working waste of money and a warning to others pirate.gif

Having a look around the CaptSim site I noticed they have a online back up your registration for a year charge. This worth it? Isn't it as easy as writing down your key or storing the zipped file on a different drive?
Also noticed most planes come with varying amounts of addon packs. These worth it? I am thinking in particular the C130 packs.

Captain Sim make great flightsim aircraft, and they are available at various reputable online storefronts.
I have the 757 and C130, bought through SimMarket if I remember.

I also have a dead CS Yak, and a dead CS F104, bought and paid for at the CS website.
No amount of weeping at the door of CS support could activate these.
No amount of threatening could produce any support whatsoever.
The downloads sit on my HDD, and CS have my money.

Obviously each person should make up their own mind about the risks of online shopping.
This was simply my experience with this particular vendor.

I bought the C130 X-perience during one of the last sales, I got all the models avialable for the 9.99 which I thought was a bargain. I also bought it twice because of a computer stuff up and they refuned me for my second purchase which i thought was rather nice of them.

Will probably wait untill the full B-52 model comes out and buy it during the next sale.

I had a similar issue with the B767 - hopelessly underpowered. I saw a post somewhere saying that they'd used the wrong engine power rating in the aircraft.cfg and suggested an edit. Maybe they goofed with the 727 As well?

Had some buttplugs do the same thing to me Fauville. First they made a $2 purchase from a flight sim site that I had bought stuff from a couple of weeks previous. Then 4 minutes later they tried to buy $1,000 worth of Air Baltic tickets. This was picked up by the CC security company (IP address used must've given it away or something). Lucky they had put a freeze on my account before the tickets could be bought.

I just save a .txt file with all the info on it somewhere or other - usually in a place that I'll never be able to find again when I need it winkyy.gif

I've seen a lot of posts regarding activation issues with CS - but then I see similar bleats about nearly all online activation. It's just a can of worms.

I think many of the Vista/Win7 related problems are with multi-user systems where people havn't had full admin rights or have UAC turned on. I have nearly all the FSX CS add-ons and haven't had any issues with installing, activation etc. - on my old XP, then Vista (YUK!!!) then Win7 systems.

I have most of the add-on packs as well - though the only ones I seem to use are the C-130 ones. I got the 727 freighter one, but still don't know why laugh.gif maybe it was because it was in a sale!

@ BigBird I tried the CS727 this afternoon , and 767 last week without any problem reaching the 30,000 level smile.gif

@ Charl The Yak9 , now this was one off the first paywares were myself and Rob did a MP at pre release off FS9/2004 Godzone Auckland .. what no 2D panel , but easily forgotten with the detail off the VC , relative new install off FS9 .. now lets see if my one works .
Another would the F104 .. and the CS130 .

@ Steve Guess no joy yet !

If I fail , and hell spent many ... jepper's many hundreds off dollar s , i think a march to the Kremlin gates , another revolution unsure.gif
