I have it modelled and UV unwrapped in Blender, then into Model Converter X, then into Gmax for final FS animations and materials.

What extension file do you export in blender and also after Model Converter X?
I export my blender file into 3ds but some bottom surfaces[eg. spoil] are invisible after export.

First, I export the model as a .dae file, with include UV textures ticked. Then, after importing the file into MCX, I then export it as a .3ds, that I then import that into GMAX. That way, I still have the UV Unwrap, and all the textures that I made before still work with the model. Also, what do you mean by "I export my blender file into 3ds"? Do you mean import into 3DS Max, or export as a .3ds?

It's been a while since the last update, so here we go.

Recently, I've been updating some things on just the base model (Ian, before you say anything, there is still no Landing Gear, or an engine). At the same time, I have also been working on the textures for the model as well, but thay are nowhere near finished.
So, what do you think? I know the '20' on the cowling isn't right. I'm working on that.

A bit of bad news, I'm afraid. The PC I was using for this suffered a breakdown, and will no longer boot. To this end, I am going to be buying a new, larger HDD to replace the one that's in it already. It will not erase any data, and hopefully this project will soon be back up and running.

It's not that I haven't backed it up, it's that Gmax and FSX are on that PC. Which makes testing it in FS, well, difficult.

Through experience I dare say that dose get difficult, least it give you time to think how further to progress, least you don't do all the work and in a brain fade delete the many months of work ! ohmy.gif

I've been looking for a Chang for FSX for a long while.

I fly one each summer for an Adventure Flight company here in Melbourne, Oz. If there's anything I can do to help make this a reality please let me know, I have plenty of pics (and can get more of any details you may want) and can provide technical details/flight characteristics if needed.

Good luck!

P.S. I see a note indicating that the Chang is an uprated Yak-52. This isn't true, but is a common misconception. The CJ-6 actually predates the '52 by 13 years. While they have a common ancestor in the Yak-18a (built in China as the CJ-5) and therefore have many common systems, they are very different aircraft which fly very differently. The '52 is a lot more hardcore. They also have very different cockpit layouts. The one I fly (VH-CJE) is mostly original, but does have a Western ASI, Altimeter and radio in the front cockpit, the rear 'pit is original.

As I once again have an FSX-capable machine I'm very keen to get my hands on a Chang...any progress with this by any chance? I still see nothing else out there.
