Normally eschew the term "Eye Candy" but it surely must apply...
What will be the differences between FS9/FSX versions?

FSX will have aerial textures at 2.5 metres/pixel as opposed to FS2004's 4.8 m/pix.
It also allows some additional model textures, such as specular highlights, which gives a nice glow to the main hanger in the evening:)
I had planned to include self-shadowing -- I've always wanted this in FS, as it was never very realistic that models didn't cast shadows on themselves -- but the resulting shadow is too light. It was a tough decision to give this up, but all the light shadows make the scenery a bit wussy. Strong shadowing is very important!
Then when folk post screenshots of my scenery with shadows turned off, it becomes a bit academic...
Other things which are under consideration:
Road traffic (Middle Renwick Road really needs some peak time traffic control -- I've noticed that the locals tend to just put their foot down to get across intersections.)
Airport traffic -- although this is tricky to implement at the moment, and may not be included in the short term.

Any reason for just 2.5 as opposed to 1.2m?

That's the resolution of the source imagery.

Will the town of Picton be modelled?

It'll include Picton -- at least the aerial photo plus autogen. I hope to include some models -- mainly based around the the floatplane base, so it may just be the Maritime Museum and the ferry terminal.
I was looking at including the Edwin Fox, but visitors may just have to use their imagination -- no matter what they call it, it still looks like a 150-year-old shipwreck to me.

I like these "updated screenshots". Really, really looks too good to be a sim. Well done, Robin!

Traffic - it sure would be cool to have a Nanchang in the circuit.....ah well, I can dream, can't I?! Maybe just the default Cub....

Go for it Rob, and I hope you're feeling better soon. :(

My last visit to the Edwin Fox found it moved inside a building for restoration (my ancestors arrived on it so we had a family reunion in Picton to visit it). So no worries about needing a shipwreck on the shoreline anymore :D
Awesome work Robin, looks great!

I used to live in Picton (moved from Greymouth when aged 2 in 1957) I hope this will be fsx compatible, can you give me a buzz @ cathyhowat@hotmail.com when this is out, also, are you going to do Greymouth and Nelson at any time? >nzflag<

Yes this will be FSX compatible, I think if you just watch this topic the release will be very obvious I will imagine

Although quoting yourself is the first sign of madness...
Here's a quick look at the floatplane dock in FS2004.
