X-Planers may have noticed the freeware Hughes 500 that become available a few weeks ago. My friend Joe reviewed it here. Well there has been a lot of community movement on this one over the last couple of weeks. An update will be released shortly that completely revamps the engine modelling. I believe what we have now is THE most realistic Allison 250 for any home simulator. There has been a lot of work (including some of my own) on the gauges and it has been well tuned for VR. In terms of flight model and systems modelling it blows the last 500 released (Milviz) completely out of the water... The model dates back to XP 9 so it is a little dated in areas but with the community improvements, that is changing. Watch for the update over the next few days.

That’s awesome. Can’t wait to play with it.
If more people get involved to fix it, it’ll make a great community project. Eg model the E nose. Nick, does the E feel different to the D?

There's more mods coming to it and this pack is getting upgrades all of the time that'll get included in the next release. I think the plan is to include it with the base model. That's quite a major thing to turn it into an E. The nose would be difficult and then the panel would have to be redesigned. We're kind of, sort of looking at turning it into a C. There's a couple of things to change but it'd probably be easier. The E doesn't fly much different to the D, the nose doesn't make any difference at all, it's just for visuals. There are a few differences internally though.

Improvements are great. Do you guys have access to the source model?
Will be downloading and flying soon.

Edit: Ah I see, the modeler is still active, this is an enhancement to the systems

This is a community converted model from XP9 so a lot of work was done to make it XP11 compatible. There is a lot of work going into the next release of this already.

So what you're saying is I really, really need to get X-Plane?
