Hi guys,

If you weren't aware Dave Molyneaux released a nice freeware Fox Moth that works perfectly in FSX (de_havilland_dh83_fox_moth_fs9.zip at flightsim.com).

Yesterday Peter Watkins released the NZ repaint (ZK-APT) for it - fsx_de_havilland_fox_moth_zk-apt.zip at flightsim.com.

I've been wanting a Fox Moth, I might have to look at doing a paint for the West Coast run...
ZK-APT has certainly done a lot of travelling, not all of it in the air....

It was not long before it was damaged at Bluff Station on 07-03-1948 when it was blown over a cliff. The damaged aircraft was rafted down the Clarence River and freighted to Wellington. It was January 1949 before it was again airworthy. It was damaged again on 29-03-1951 at Waiau, rebuilt at Christchurch to fly again on 26-07-1951.[/quote]

I notice Peter has also done a FSX paint for it as well, so obviously adjusted textures to suit, example the glaze and propeller.

Cheers Dan. I have an older model that includes ZK-ADI which is also FS9 but FSX compatible, not sure who built it thought and can't find the source.

The thread following might be worth watching, looks like ADI is in the works for this new model too..

Yes! thanks for the heads-up, I will use it as an AI plane at de Havilland-prone airfields.
Don't forget to download and add the vcmod to your existing 54970 others, also at flightsim.com .

Quite a famous photo of Bert Mercer in the 1930s on a West Coast beach, have in one of my New Zealand Aviation books here somewhere, black and white tho, I'll have to dig it up.

There's some great shots here. These aircraft certainly got around.

Great link Rob cool.gif more photo's there than I have, that one specific I mention is the one with the dogs and horse, Bert Mercer was killed a few years later, another pioneer lost due to the weather and the types used.

Downloaded and flew well in FSX. What does the 'Vcmodfile' do and where does it go in FSX?

These are files for Editvoicepack, which add ATC identifiers to these aircraft so you aren't called "Experimental" so-and-so.
It's for FS9 and I don't know if it flies for FSX.
There must be some equivalent I imagine.

Thanks - it does well in FSX. Each of the Kiwi paints has both FS9 and FSX versions.

I have downloaded and installed this I have been looking for a Fox moth for a long time, for some reason I have no textures showing up on the three aircraft in the download and the extra repaint?

Some textures are showing wheels , pilot and labels in cockpit. Anyone else experiencing this?

The ADI repaint looks gorgeous! Bravo! A very historic machine, one I'm very pleased to say I've had a ride in :-D

I think the time has come to ask my lovely lady if she'll allow me to install FSX on her machine...a Fox has long been on my want list.
