I think they are ok and look better then default ,i havent fully done a tour over of every area but i feel the textures have done more for rivers, lakes and coastlines than anything else ive seen or used for NZ so far to date ,everything outside of the airport is suppose to be viewed at 1000ft or so ,lower level may take abit of the realism out around coast and other parts but overall not bad .

Sorry Newbie Simmer,
FSX astounded me. Saw MS Flight and thought graphics were incredible, but I’m not looking for a Flying Game I like the Simulator experience better. Have MSFS 98 but it never really did go well on that 486 of mine…and then got lost in other things. So very New Simmer to FSX and the first thing I started to do was look at scenery. As I live in the Naki first port of call was scenery for it. Low and behold I found Godzone Taranaki. Hate to say it but all scenery will be compared to what I saw after install of their ok “photorealistic sceneryâ€￾ but you can’t tell me that It’s impossible to improve the shoreline a little in Autogen scenery.
MS Autogen scenery to Godzone scenery.

Could ORBX have gone a little further with the shorline? I think so.

Still looking for an answer on what others think Of he Shorelines of NZSI. Anyone else in agreement?

Personally I don't have an issue with them, a few broken rivers here and there but nothing worth worrying about. Honestly if ORBX was a Kiwi outfit I don't think we would be as nit picky do you think?. It's the best NZ that has been on offer yet.

@ SINZ What you are comparing is photo real scenery and default , ORBX has not touched the North Island as yet , the coast line effects in photo real based on your screen is many many years old .

And it's started. Just installed this update directly over the top of NZSI and I'm getting double ups of stuff.

Manapouri with a fence through the middle of the apron and double up of the terminal.

Mount Cook. Not sure I'd put a fence this close to a helipad...

Nick, you have to delete/change or put the files into an independent folder for later retrieval, any file name regard to the Manapouri airport code done by FTX .

Been deactivating various files relating to Te Anau. Still can't get it to look like the screenshots. Mt Cook, Chathams and Milford seem to be ok.

Its one off those silly things that happen with FSX , a thought, what are the scenery levels, putting everything installed on top of ORBX and then go from there, even reboot and defrag a couple of time kicks these silly little errors out.

This is over the top of ORBX. According to Mike's readme, files shouldn't have to be renamed. I'm going to do a defrag now.

Matey - Defrag and maybe a reboot , it is strange how or why some things in FSX simply go FUBAR for no reason, ....... my recent issue and only popped up was Effects texture , FIX simply copied and pasted the default file from the laptop and fixed it ... Weird !

Tried all of the above. Still nothing. I guess I just won't fly into Te Anau

That's because Mike's scenery was built around Service Pack 1. It all changed after SP2/3 were released. See here for an explanation.

You know what? I just can't be stuffed with all this. I might even switch back to VLC. Going to do a bit more exploring first.

winkyy.gif Maybe a good choice , so many issues with ORBX really , unless your going to build on it .. the many times I have tried to flatten Wigram only to rebuild a historical airfield is a friggen mission in its self , many simply don't have the patience mucking around with levels .. VLC had it smack on the nose as far as elevation and mesh was concerned but ORBX had the pretty looks .

Yeh gotta say that it was the atmosphere that attracted me to ORBX and if you're running it standalone then its pretty good. VLC is probably more accurate in terms of elevations and the like but it just never quite captured the imagination. I bought Robin's first photo real pack yesterday so I might end up going down that road with VLC.

Nick , One thing I have always .. simply said its the way to go ... is photo-real - you flying these region and areas , you would have the same thoughts in your brain case to no exactly were you are , and there are so many incoming scenery's photo real that will fit and fill the gap.
