Remember the 50-50-90 rule. Anytime you have a 50-50 chance of getting something right, there's a 90% probability you'll get it wrong!

"Never in the field of combat flight sims was so much promised to so many but delivered to so few"

It's a veritable crock of pooh, I'm afraid. After all these years, I bought this the second it was released. I'm a total Battle of Britain junkie, yet this stayed on my hard drive for only a couple of weeks.

At 60% off, it may be worth a go, but I wouldn't spend more than $10 NZ on it, myself.

Its very disapointing to here that all the problems have not even been partly rectified. There were alot of promices that all would be put right in post release patches and servive packs. Is there anyone else out there that has been persisting with this sim that could enlighten us reguarding any new fixes?

Here's a link to some of the latest update info.

I had hoped that the bugs had been dealt with by now.

After reading the thread from Moscow on 'Kiwisim' and weighing the 'before and after' screenshots against the listed improvements, I'd say they ain't there yet.

I just read the kiwi sim thread. Are my eye's deceiving me?? Did i just read that the russians have addmitted that the past 10 years of SOW , now namde COD development was a complete waste of time and are basically re-writing a new graphics and sound engine???????????? Unbeleivable! Hopefully UBISOFT will keep their dirty hands out of it.

Ubisoft have killed many a decent project. I've been involved in development or testing some combat sims in the past, and the moment Ubisoft got involved, things turned ugly.

My gut feeling is that when the COD developers got involved with Ubi, they more or less stopped work - and just let them have their early (beta) code.

I've played IL2 since it was first released and in my opinion it is (was?) the best combat flight sim on the market. 1C had a good product and great support even with Ubi as a producer/distributor.

It is sad to see CoD performing so badly, but I remember not being able to run IL2 on max for the first four years till I was able to upgrade to better hardware at a reasonable price. I generally run systems 2-3 years behind market release so it's affordable.

I also remember uninstalling CFS3 within hours as my pc was not up to it at the time. A few years down the track and it was running smoothly on max settings.

I will be buying CoD in the future, but as Oleg Maddox said years ago " you will need to update your system to cope with the game", regardless of the comments on KiwiSim from Luthier. Time will tell, I guess.

Cheers Esq.

It's not that it *performs* badly ... it's just badly done throughout. I've played better (freeware) BoB campaigns for IL-2 than the pathetic offering in COD.

And there you've hit the nail on the head Adam.... even IL-2's out-of-the-box campaigns were arse. Historically, 1C have really known how to make amazing sims, but can't do a campaign to save themselves....same unfortunately holds true for Cliffs of Dover apparently...

Leave it well alone its still horrible, if you want a good, no great WW2 sim use IL2 1946 modded with UP3.

My computer specs are 4GB, i5 cpu and 1GB nividia card and COD is unplayable. Cockpits look great everything else is medicore.
