This is a big worry - the pollies and bureaucrats have been chopping numbers 'to reduce costs', but they don't seem to realise you can't just produce controllers out of a hat.

The US FAA claims 30% understaffed.

Auckland Airport's proposed tower expansion project may be digital.
= you put sensors on a pole and work in jandals from your mancave.
One (implied) step immediately beyond that will be AI control of the digital command stream.
