Sidewinder forcefeedback pro

Now I know one of you geezers will be able to help me with this.
Think I read about it some where but cant recall where or when.
I use the usual sidewinder pro but when in Oz a couple of months back
got my hands on a brand new Forcefeedback stick which I think was out in the
days of FS98 ? (cost me A$10.00)
Anyway to cut a long story short I tried to plug it into my system (XP) and it works except for the actual
feed back bit although every now and again it does seem to want to give me a few bumps etc?
Any thoughts on setting it up, can it easily be done ?

I had this problem with the pin stick(non usb version) and plugged it into the sound card and that worked.
