Hi my friend whats to get a laptop for doing homework, watching movies, browsing the net and playing music. His price limit is $1200, (probably doesn't need to be that expensive, but 1200 is the limit) what is the best laptop for the money that will do all the things he wants to do with it. (Maybe some gaming, but not like "hard out games".

Thanks alot,

Nick and friend ;)

Really, if all your friend is looking for is a office/light gaming laptop, I would go into dick smiths, and actually look at them, play around, look at screen quality, etc. All new laptops can "game" relatively well, but it really depends on how much gaming he is planning to do and at what settings.

Sorry I cant be much more help, but i lost interest in the laptop scene after my last one blew up on me, and i moved to desktops.
My only advice:
Stick to the good brands (Acer, Asus, Sony, HP, Toshiba etc.)
Stay away from Dell and Lenovo.

Slightly contrary to what BB has said there...

I've owned a Dell laptop for about 6 odd years now - still going strong with no problems at all. We have two other Dell PC's (about 4 and 1 years old) which have also been problem-free. :)
