Hi

Tried searching for an answer on the net but it didn't come to a conclusion.

While trying to free up some space, I checked my Add/remove programs tool and noticed I have 4 versions of Java Runtime Environment (JRE (I think) and wondered if its safe to uninstall the older versions.
I have:
- Version 5 update 11 (actually I have uninstalled this version already and then searched for an answer)
- Version 6 update 1
- Version 6 update 2
- Version 6 update 3

I think the latest version is V6 .4 but haven't D/L'ed that yet.

What kind of app's does Java run anyway?

Your answer appreciated.

Thanks alot, :)

Nick

I am thinking keep all the veri on 6 ones, as they seem to be just updates. if you really want to clean it up, you could uninstall them all and reinstall the newest version.

you could uninstall them all and reinstall the newest version[/quote] .but id tick the box in the show updates off in the Add/remove programs tool , this way you would maybe only see the one program installed JRE

updates are just that updates to a early version ,the early version is still needed as its the base of the program the updates that you listed are the updates to that base software ,delete anyone of them and you will cancel out part of it and the whole program wont work..
