First up, i know nothing about computers. At the moment i have a dual core 2.0 ghz running on my computer. I would like to get it up higher. So i was wondering if i could i ask some questions.

How many ghz should i get it up to?
Do you add in chips or something or do you buy a whole new ghz thingy??
Do you have to buy a chip for each?

As you can see i know NOTHING about this, not really my forte.

Any ideas welcome to what i should do are warmly welcomed. I am going to get COD4 and this requires dual 2.4 ghz.

What type of graphics card are you running? If you use an nVidia card, then download an application called 'nTune' from the nVidia site (although im not even sure if you need a nVidia graphics card to use it)

This will 'tune' your computer by overclocking your existing cpu and gpu clock speeds and memory speeds to safe levels (it runs a process to determine what is a safe level)....Ive installed it and noticed good gains (10-15%)....best of all, its free so that is something to try before you replace your CPU

If you just want to upgrade the processor, then your motherboard manual will tell you what you can go up to. It should list compatible processors -- it's really just a matter of removing the old processor and plugging in the new one, but if you are not too comfortable with this type of thing I'd find someone to do it for you.

I have an Nvidia 7600 card in at the mo. i will give the 'nTune' a go. thanks for the advice guys.

Where can i find this info? Im not sure what it means? Does operating system mean the make of my computer or a particular component?
