Flight1 ATR on FSX:SE - Awful FPS

Hi all,

Jumped back into the Flight 1 ATR, which I've been flying on an old Win7 rig since it was released for FS9 in 2004. That set up is now FSX boxed, FSX ATR install with SP1a and VLC for FSX. I get 20 FPS on a Dell Latitude 6410 laptop - perfectly reasonable.

I decided to have a go at putting it on my MacBook Pro, on a Bootcamp partition. I have FSX:SE installed in Win 10 on the MacBook and generally get 50-60 FPS with default aircraft and PMDG 747, more than reasonable.

However when I dump Flight 1 ATR into that set up I get 5-6FPS  That's not cool at all. I've tried chopping the textures down on it and removing the VC but doesn't change things at all.

Looked on the F1 product page where it says:

Since this product has now been released with Windows 10 compatiblility for FSX, it is important you note the following when using with FSX on Windows 10.

1. You MUST run FSX as Administrator. If using FSX Boxed, right click the shortcut to FSX and select Run as Administrator.

2. You may see a few graphics anomolies such as transparent props in front of clouds from an external view.

3. The product is not compatible with DirectX 10 Preview Mode.

4. Your system fonts must be set to the standard default font size with the slider all the way to the left. The gauges will not display fonts correctly if you scale up font size (for example, 125%). You can set it to 100% before your flight then reset it back as needed.

So those are all good and I'm doing those but the forums are pretty clear that there is no Dev support for any issues and they are refunding people who have bought it for FSX:SE.

I guess apart from venting my spleen here I was wondering if anyone had encountered this issue and found a way around it. I would hate to have to roll back to my boxed edition of FSX/acceleration and start with a fresh install.

But if I have to then I have to - Really want the ATR to fly!

I gave up waiting for MilViz, again. No solid updates from them since about July last year and it's gone from their 'in development' page.

I ended up reformatting my windows partition and installing the boxed version of FSX gold. All add ons installed and the ATR gets 30 frame rates.

Good enough!

The lastest update on the Milviz one looks promising.

It won't be the same spec in the cockpit as what Mt Cook fly at the moment but who knows what might eventuate down the line.

Are you talking MSFS? cos the Milviz (Now Blackbird Simulations) will be the 72-600 which is what Air NZ Fly
