Bugger, it went bust. Time for a new rig! Are these specs adequate?

Hi all,

Well, my rig essentially crapped itself. It was becoming outdated and I am wanting to get a really great rig now. One that can truly handle P3D v3, REX, ORBX, PMDG 777 and 737 etc.

Today I got the following priced up by Dragon PC in Christchurch. What are you thoughts? Anything that stands out for being decidedly average?

CPU - Intel i7-6700K Skylake (4.0GHz stock)
Cooling - Cooler Master Hyper 212 X Universal Cooler
Mobo - Gigabyte Intel Z170-ATX (GA-Z170-HD3)
RAM - 16 GB (2 x 8GB) Adata DDR3-1600
SSD - 128GB Samsung 850 Evo Series
HDD - Western Digital 1TB Cavair Blue 7200RPM
GPU - Gigabyte Overclocked Nvidia GEForce GTX970 4GB
Case - Corsair Carbide Series 200R Compact ATX
PSU - 650W FSP Aurium S Series

TOTAL = $2060 including GST

+ fitting by Dragon PC ($49)

Would like to hear opinions :)

Crikey , the old box did not last to long ! ... Marty (spiltpin) did mention a computer shop opposite Wigram Museum with people in there with knowledge of most all flight simulation and recommendations for the best system, maybe worth giving Marty a nudge a question were the shop is, DragonPC are good but maybe worth a looksie a the other.

Looks pretty legit, I'd recommend a bigger SSD though. At least 256GB for the OS and you want P3D on it too.

Cheers NZ255!

Am I right in thinking that running P3D from an SSD only decreases load-times; and doesn't actually have an effect on gameplay itself. Or am I incorrect?

Also, do you know the estimated size of P3D v3.1 plus addons (Orbx NZSI/NI, Global, Vector, a few PMDG, Carenado a/c etc) - just a rough guess? I forgot to check the size of my file when it was up and running.

Cheers

Do you get blurries? An ssd eliminates those as the time to cache textures from the drive to the memory is drastically reduced.

I'd estimate that installation (based of mine) would be about 60GB
