Intoduction: Been flying FSX on Vista32 with eyefinity and 4 screens for a number of years Trouble Free and no CTD,s using AMD Dual Core 6000+overclock 10%
HD6970 2G DX11, Mother board Asus M2N32-SLI Deluxe /WiFi-Ap

However, some months back out of the blue yonder CTD,s started to appear and FSX became unstable, no hardware changes. Tried all the Web page advice and FSX kept on crashing after 2-5mins flying, without any resolve. Decided to give up flying FSX and investigate P3D2.

Requirements: First needed to be sure that FSX would run in Windows 7 64 bit on my system before i made the leap to P3D2.

Commission: Set up a Dual Boot Vist32 and Windows 7 64bit Retail OS on seperate Hard Drives with upgraded Ram in eyefinity 4screens HD6970 2G DX11, all on
exissting Asus motherboard and AMD CPU.*****FSX Crashed as before on both operating systems****** Results identicle.

Cause: A windows sound driver update installed in Vista 32 was incompatible with my Asus motherboards Sound Max HD Audio Facility and i missed its automaric
installation.
Please Note: This updated driver worked perfectly with all other Windows Applications but FSX did not like it as the default driver for sound.

Solution: Installed dedicated New Sound Card xx5.1xx with Vista32 and Windows 7 64 bit requirements into the motherboards vacant PCI slot. The card must be
used as the systems sound default driver and be nominated in the FSX options, settings, sound,(ie Speakers (--5.1--),Voice Speaker(--5.1--)

Final Result: No Crashes, back to a stable system in Vista32 and Windows 7 64bit now on dual boot. Have the confidence now to explore P3D2 and chop it over
to a solely Windows 7 64 bit HDD and leave FSX on Vista 32 without blowing $$$$$ on new motherboard and processor.

May this help some of you simmers

Thats good information.
Shows why auto updates should be disabled on a gaming rig.
