Hi

Have spent the last few nights trying to sort out a bleed issue of the underlying texture bleeding through a runway. At altitude is not visible, can only see it on landing and up to about 50 - 100 AGL. Have emailed the developer a week or so before Xmas and got no reply.

Tried disabling all the meshes, the airport is highest priority in the library, played around with the sliders for mesh elevation, texture resolution, UAC is disabled.

FSX Acel, windows 7, totally updated with windows and gfx drivers

A picture paints a thousands words so this is the issue:

Any help appreciated

Paul, to get that effect, you must have more than one AFCAD for the airport. Some sit in the airport scenery, some are placed in \Scenery\World\scenery and the default ones are usually in a bgl covering a whole region.
Search your FS using the ICAO code for the airport and that will show you all of them.
You can also use ADEX or AFCAD to find where the default ones are hiding - they appear as the "Stock" airport, and addon ones come up as "Mod"

Cheers for taking the time to reply - I thought the same.

Using but using simple windows searches on ICAO and name bought up nothing - Scruffy Ducks Simple Airport Scanner didn't show up any at this airport (Great tool BTW - found 230 other duplicates that I didn't know about).

I'm at the point now I'm dabbling with ADE to raise Airport Elevations to try to mask it - with no luck so far.

Steady there - not all of those will be 'real' duplicates. Afcads to allow crosswind runways use dummy "mini-runways" to make the effect work, and these look like duplicates. Check carefully before you delete any.
BTW, which airport is it? I would like to have a look myself.
The other day when I was checking Ant's Brisbane, I could only find the stock one in the main ADE finder - I didn't find Ant's until I searchd by ICAO, and there it was in its own little tree, Queensland\Brisbane Intl'l The stock one was in the main tree at Australia\Queensland\Brisbane. That is caused by differences in the properties provided by the developer, and only standard ones are grouped correctly. I expect Ant's one is in the "country" of Queensland, so it probably appears way down the main list, not under 'Australia' but I didn't bother to look.

Take care

Cheers for the pointers Mike,

Quite aware of "duplicate" afcads, a simple matter of RTFM - I note most of Orbx products have at least 2, but a great little scanner for example it showed me I had 3 AFCADs for NZQN -2 Orbx and a VLC, which hasn't caused me any noticeable problems at Queenstown - but it could cause issues.

The problem I'm working on is not a stock airport, it's Mile High Sims Naval Air Station Key West from SimMarket.

Ive seen this problem before but ive been out the loop for so long , I can't understand putting in a scenery that you never had previous and causing problem .

Thanks for that, Paul.
If I point ADE to my FSX, and ask it to open stock airport, then go to United States>Florida>Key West, it shows me 5 default airports, all in FS10\scenery\0302\scenery\APX26230.bgl
One of the five is KNQX Key West NAS, and the runway pattern looks a lot like your screenies.
If I point it to my FS9, I get the same result, except the airports are in AP926230.bgl

As a test, rename APX26230.bgl to APX26230.bgx
Bear in mind, this will disable all five airports within that bgl, including Key West Int'l.

I strongly suspect it is this default bgl which is drawing on top of your payware one. Maybe the developers forgot an exclude.

Thanks for that Mike,

I didn't know you could do that with ADE - if nothing else you've taught me something. Tried your suggestion with no results, but I think you are right about multiple AFCADS.

The reason is I look at the airport in ADE and in the runway properties show the alt of all 3 runways at 5.997 feet yet when I do a test flight I'm sitting on a runway at 12.2 ft until I taxi off it and then it drops to 6 ft. I'll investigate a bit more tonight.

Cheers Paul

Thanks Paul -
If it was FS9, I would be looking for replacement airport flattens (AF9nnnnn.bgl) which were mismatched with the AFCAD, and AF926230.bgl would be the first check.
Unfortunately I have not done any of that sort of fiddling in FSX. Disabling the default flattens got rid of those huge embankments, but the trade-off was "floating runways" which you could fall off, and sometimes taxi through
underneath ohmy.gif
Replacement meshes can create similar effects.
A bit puzzled for the moment, but I'll keep looking.
