Project cockpit

Firstly, just want to say thanks to Jase for the generous donation (except the controller ) for the stuff for my new pit project. Secondly, a screenshot below to show the start of something beautiful. Oh, I have many plans and ideas about this pit but i have to consider reality and not take up an entire room, just because

Throttle Quadrant



Gear Lever (will end up having micro switches on top and bottom to trip the gear up and down



Quadrant + Trims (trims will be refitted into something more suitable to downsize a little)


I will be adding copius amount of buttons and rocker/toggle switches and even a starter etc.. I want to try to replicate the 737 but also be usable for my GA aircraft as well. I hope to post more of my work here over time so you can see the progress. I have to admit, When Jason showed me how simple making a button or axis work I think this is going to blow PFC equipment out of the water because this is much much more scalable.

I want to also somehow get my hands on an old real yoke and get it manufactured to fit my pit, actually if I can pedals too this would be nice...but anyway that's it for now.

Geeezz K You can be a messy bugger .. put that toy away and clean ya cockpit .... to think you had all that big fancy gear ... The ole no mess .. well i guess its no mess no fun

Looking good, I see you have changed the wiring about which would be sensible and make it easier to handle the new configuration.

I see you have taken some of it apart, make sure that the plastic discs go back in the right spot, the levers all act a bit like a slip clutch when you tighten the end knob and the handles wont move well without them once its all done up again.

Look forward to seeing the end result. Much better outcome than having it at the tip.

Yeah, I thought to tidy up all the wiring so I went on the hunt around computer stores to get some two pin headers and the attached wires so they would just fit onto the pcb without fuss. Yeah I realised that those nylon washers were for soon after putting it back together, i ran out so went to Hi-Q to get some more as well as the threaded knob so I will have two threaded knobs on either side.

I'm also going to get some light aluminum sheet metal for the console and fold it to fit which should make it look quite nice. Actually, the throttle as it is right now is quite heavy and feels very sturdy and the movement of the levers is much better than the PFC throttle quadrant I had.

Things you make are often better than the commercial ones, they have a small budget to make the parts but a large price tag. Anything you want that is going to be really good is usually a custom job.

It might be the beginning of a diy journey for you

maybe the admins could move this to the Tech forum where all the cockpit building is covered. that way it will be easy for us all to follow a great project.

looks good so far. plenty of other builders around here to bounce ideas off too.
