Take a look at this pic of the A320 going past the Remarkables in Orbx NZQN

Notice how the Remarkables are blurry? Im wondering whether my Graphics card cant keep up?

System Specs:

Flight Simulator X Gold
Windows 7 Professional 64bit
Thermaltake M9 Mid Tower Case
Intel I7 3.5GHZ
12GB of Ram
Nivida Geforce GTX650 GDDR5
500GB Seagate Hard Drive

Help would be appreciated

Terry hold back a little bit , I think in a previous post i almost yawned , the hype was a little over the top , i'm getting silly things like texture issues and it drawing , not recommended to buy yet , even AGN is shabby , I do wonder who the BETA testers were here , and the autogen peoples ... final point the airport texture placement , maybe the first ORBX FLOP ! ....

Congrats on the new system...you've given yourself a ton of room for playing and tweaking....just don't fall into the trap like myself of five odd years trying to get it perfect, frankly I don't think FSX ever will be 'perfect' (Im a virgo so what can I say ....keep us up to date on what tweaks etc have worked for you

Actually I have a decent spec system i7-2600K @4.8 ghz and a GTX780 video card and ORBX NZQN is not performing for me either with a very slow re-draw of the Runway and airport surrounds.

cheers Dave

Yip , seems to be the conclusion it was a rushed release , with the latest Global and updates seems to be bit of a plonker , still looks good but after the years of doing many NZ airports even the autogen appears rushed or is that maybe me dry.gif

I see where your coming from Ian but its not just NZQN, that the Autogen is loading slowly its everywhere, every now and then I get black textures on the ground and on the aircraft.
I myself think that my Graphics card is just not keeping up.
It is a Nivida Geforce GTX 650 Part No GV-N650OC-2GI, whats weird about this card is that there is no such card like this on Nividas Website in 2GB but if you go onto gigabyte.co.nz you can find it there, I'm thinking I may need to upgrade? what do people suggest? i dont mind paying up to 250, maybe 300

cheers

Oh and yes the Net Framework was installed along with the Orbx Libraries

No more upgrades required by you , as Dave AKA "FrostyNZ" pointed out .. he has one wicked weapon system - it an ORBX issue .... they will post a fix but its not a quality product of there normal standard , so i guess be a few weeks before a patch is released .... i wonder maybe they should hire myself or Doug winkyy.gif to tidy up some off the Autogen - I already own Queenie-ville so we'll give Doug the honours ... Hey JV or Martin ... OVER HERE ..... some reason they don't like me to much ..... must be this out spoken thing about ruling the world tongue.gif

but what about the rest of NZ? I get blurries bad around NZWN and NZNS

If I apply this tweak would it help?

TERRAIN_MAX_AUTOGEN_TREES_PER_CELL=4500
TERRAIN_MAX_AUTOGEN_BUILDINGS_PER_CELL=3000

are you using nvidiainspector mate?

If not, follow this doenload link and guide and set it to '2 x SGSS' under settings ..... I will give you a hand if needed

What are your normal settings in FSX?

Black textures are more likely to be fixed by pulling back your settings a bit, rather than by tweaking the graphics card these days. Do you get blurry textures all the time?

Yes settings are pretty high but framerates are brilliant, I do get blurry textures most of the time, when Im at high altitude its not so bad, but when at lower altitudes they are worse

If you fly a lot high and fast, which I assume you do (a 320 isn't the first choice for a low-level sight-seeing trip up the coast...) then you really need to consider the load on memory, and turn stuff down to compensate. Memory does start to strain after flying for a while, and flying into an area with high-res textures or a lot of autogen after a long flight means that memory does need to be reshuffled, which can result in slow-drawing textures. Save the high settings for sight-seeing flights only.

The problem isn't always with a particular area, but a combination of factors -- a highly detailed airport might perform beautifully if you just take off and fly around a bit for a look, but once you spend an hour or two to fly to another big airport, probably over a city, things get sluggish.

No matter what Orbx says, FTX NZ does put an extra load on the sim. If you stick with their recommendations, you should be using 'normal' autogen settings for long flights, and make sure that you don't over-use high resolution (HD) textures, such as REX's HD clouds.

By the way, I just saw the post about slow-loading textures over at the Orbx forum, and I wonder if anyone has actually checked the textures they use in NZQN (such as the tarmac textures etc) to make sure that they actually have mipmaps?

Well I tried what you said toprob, and no difference, here are some screenshots

This shows when looking back and the runway terxtures are black for a moment before loading and notice the surrounding hills are blurry

These too

According to Martin (orbx developer) a patch will be released later this year that will address the problems you are experiencing.

Cheers Dave

Hmm, that does look weird. I might hold off for a while with NZQN.

Have you got a decent defrag program? and run it lately?
How about turning up your "texture resolution" higher, and turning down some other things, like water, to LOW 1x (still has shiny waves). Scenery complexity could be dropped from full right as well, try one, or max two notches to the left from your current position.
If you've not done it already, try zooming out your spot view from 1.00 to 0.80 or 0.70, that sometimes helps me.

Is it blurry like this somewhere else in the default world? Like try this in the mountains of... Switzerland or Austria for example. Show us what it looks like there.

Personally, I just think your PC is overloaded with all the extra 3d models in NZQN that it can't maintain or achieve a sharp texture on the photo real parts. I am not convinced a new gfx card will solve the problem. Personally my gfx card barely breaks a sweat with FSX, it's my CPU that can't handle the strain..

My 2 cents anyway!

PS Blurries are such a weird thing. I get sharper textures in FSX than I can get in FS2004, and FS2004 is easier on my computer. Go figure tongue.gif
