Ok team.........here's the issue. In IFR flights in the middle of the flight the ATC will issue me with an instruction......but there are no active replies to select. So after asking "Do you copy" a few times the IFR flight plan gets cancelled, as expected.

Does any one else have this problem? Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix it? I've looked at a few Flight sim forums and it seems to be a common problem, but there appears to be no solution yet.

Any ideas???

Cheers

Do I dare say FSX and that phrase fit well or not

Seen a similer thing happen with FS2002 and FS9 only way I know that seems to correct the problem is save the flight and reload FS.

Alternatively open a multiplayer option then close it and the ATC comes back.

does it happen at any particular point/location? have you been increasing the simulation speed?

Just don't use the FSX ATC Nik. Works for me.

What ATC are you using for IFR?

None. I just fly the flight-planned route at the appropriate altitude, then fly an approach and land.

OK.........I think I've found the cause of the problem. It seems to be related to the Auto pop-up ATC option in the "General" section. I have allowed ATC auto pop-up and problem seems to have gone away.....I've tested this using the same flights/conditions etc, and it seems to have hit the nail on the head......I'll add to this thread if I find out anything further about this bug.

THanks for your help team

Has happened in every IFR flight since yesterday.........so I don't think its linked to a location. I haven't used any increased sim rates......See the above entry, as I believe its linked to the ATC auto pop-up option.

I have noticed that this bug is also an issue for AI traffic. They also "can't answer ATC" and get their flight plans cancelled....always near their destination airport. As a result they become 'pilot free' planes and hold their course and altitude until they run out of fuel and crash, or just crash into mountains etc

No........it's when the auto pop-up is switched off. Sorry about that......didn't make myself very clear.

Hmm, I have my switched off and havn't had any problems, but then I don't spend a huge amount of time flying IFR.

Does Radar Contact work with FSX? Anyways, you might as well use a real person. :P

Nik, that has happened to me a few times before too. The only way I could fix it was by saving my flight, ending the flight, then resuming it.

Also, on long haul flights where I sometimes leave the computer to go and have a snack or something, then return to find ATC has cancelled my IFR plan for not responding to an instruction, I simply just open a new flight plan via the ATC box, and request new IFR clearence in mid air :)
