Hi there people I now Have NZSI, NZNI & REX Installed but I have a problem, when flying its fine Im still getting over 25 FPS - but at the end of a flight mostly when I use air craft like A320X, or I fly into NZAA or NZCH some textures will go black and then the error wil come up, ''you have run out of available memory'' and FSX will crash to desktop -so I tried setting lower settings without making it look to unpleasant but no luck!

My Specs are:

Windows XP SP3 32-Bit
AMD Athlon II X2 240 Processor 3.0 GHZ
4.00GB of RAM
Geforce GTX650 2GB of Memory GDDR5
Corsair HX650 PSU

I cant install any more Ram cause Im on XP 32-Bit, is it possible one of the Ram modules is Kaput? otherwise I have heard of people using a program that shuts off any processes the comuter doesn't need, would this work? and where can I get it?

Please help!

You could use memtest if you suspect your memory.
In System configuration utility - startup tab, you can turn off programs that don't need to be running in the background.
CCleaner is also a handy program for doing this.

Sorry to ask the obvious, but do you have FSX SP2 installed?

Terry. Do a google search on "fsx 3GB boot.ini" ... it'll turn up pages like these...

http://forum.simflight.com/topic/55994-set...the-3gb-switch/
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/316739

Have a good read of them, try and make sense of it, and THEN come back here and ask more about it. You can't expect to be spoon fed advice without putting in a little work yourself tongue.gif
For what it's worth, the 3GB setting did help me when I was on 32bit windows.

Two issues. Even with the fix, FSX cannot use more than 3.2 Gig, that is set by the Virtual Mem. Second issue is the amount of video ram you have . Windows 32 bit only has 4 gig of ram space, it need two of that for your video card. Its ok most of the time but when you start getting to that 500 meg level the Virtual ram starts encroaching on to teh user ram and thats when you get the out of mem error. Best thing is to go 64 bit or reduce the video settings.

Just curious..
I don't have REX, so can't really advise, but what resolution textures are you trying to run?
Adding to what Rocky said, I've suggested a program before called Game Booster by Razer, which shuts down unnecessary background processes for the duration of your sim session, and restarts them again when you are done flying.
I am flying FSX now using it, on Win XP, and I only have 28 processes running, including FSX. How many are you running in the background as well as FSX?

Plus my FSX is running at a steady 425,000k memory usage (flying the Level D 767 across to Australia currently). Looks good doing it too. REX could blow that figure out of the water. It's really designed with newer PCs in mind me thinks?

Yeah Mine has about 49 processes running when flying and its using 1.7gb memory usage on average so it does seem to be doing a lot of work

Very sure that the consensus between most of people i've spoken to about it .. all this latest -'Hardware' on an old mobo and low end CPU coupled with an old OS(32bit) ..... FSX or any Microsoft flight simulation are the biggest system resource using program out there ... one thing mention to you on your upgraded was looking at both CPU and OS months back .

There's your problem right there.

The problem isn't that you're running out of memory, it's that (effectively) you're running out of memory addresses. Basically every pixel on the screen has to be kept track of and directions sent to the graphics card, and all the variables have to be tracked, and all the behind the scenes calculations have to keep going on which means there's a whole truckload of stuff to keep track of. Everything that needs to be tracked needs a memory address so windows can find it again, so you need a truckload of addresses, but 32bit windows only has a trailerload of addresses to give out. Once they're gone, the next programme that asks for an address gets sent packing with an out of memory error.

When I was running 4gb win7-32 I could run the F1 Mustang on default NZ scenery ok for takeoff and cruise, but as soon as I started to get anywhere near NZAA (default, no other traffic) BANG, goodnight nurse. Every time, without fail. Exact same place in the descent every flight. Chamged to win7-64, and that was the ONLY thing I changed, problem sorted.

Good luck with the optimising, but I think your only real solution will be to go to a 64bit version of windows. I've been known to be wrong before ...

Gary

This may be of some help to you.

But as I said in one of your previous threads, you are towing a caravan with a Toyota Corolla.

Terry, have you tried the boot.ini change?
Despite the other doomsdayers in this thread winkyy.gif it's worth a crack. Worked for me before I went 64bit anyway.

It is delaying the inevitable however, if you truly want to make a big improvement 64bit + more RAM is the way to.
