Hi guys,

Many of you will think is is a ridiculous question, but I am just a bit unsure.

With REX Essentials installed; if you open up FSX and go for a flight, does REX automatically activate? Ie: if you select the deafult FSX weather thems (eg Winter Wonderland etc), do the REX textures get used?

How are you meant to run REX? If you want to fly in a storm for example, do you load REX before starting FSX, then choose your textures then click "Install" then load up FSX?

Sorry! I am a bit confused and thinking im not getting the most out of REX

You can run the real world weather themes , but many screens i see done is adjust the theme weather to GET a better screen , changing bits and pieces to suit .. another toy to play around with , make it brilliant due to the fact we get have three weather reading station that is used in FSX... good example the Northwester won't copy what we have in the real world .

Not that silly, as REX has changed the way it does things -- it used to start automatically when you ran FSX, but now you start REX first.

So my normal procedure is to start REX, wait until it loads the weather, then press 'Fly Now!' to start FSX. From then on, it's all automatic. The weather loading is a lot quicker now than it used to be, so I can normally be up and running in a couple of minutes.

If you've installed REX textures, then FSX will use these whether or not you run REX.

You can choose to update the textures in REX before you fly, so that it 'matches' the weather, but this is not required. I don't think there's any way you are 'meant' to use it, it does offer a lot of features which you can use if you want. Personally, I just like to choose a good set of textures which I change occasionally, and let REX install the weather.

Thanks Toprob!

So you always fly real world weather?

What if you want to fly in a storm, theres no option on the REX Engine that lets you actually select if it is raining or not etc...what do you do then?

That option is there , the start-up interface will have it in there .. REX Enviornment

I'm not too sure how these work, as I always use real weather, but you can choose a random theme (based on season and weather severity) or even REX archived weather.
I kind of got out of the habit of using REX when I 'upgraded' to Essentials, as it took so long to load the weather, but since the update, which sped things up, I'm really getting back into it.

You can also open and load your REX after you have FSX open and it will load the weather and activate it in FSX may take a couple of minutes before it activates though
