hey now its my turn to complain! :P
My flightsim is really bad. I have bits of land and water popping up everywhere. I have houses and trees in the water. And to top it all off, my performance is HORRIBLE. I am using V9.1 with no addons (clean install)

I think this all has something to do with FS9 and its incompatablility with Dual core processors, but I dunno. Help! :givein:

What kind of gfx card do you have? A pc can have good specs but with a bad gfx card its terrible?

Id expect fs to still run on one of the cores, what was it 3ghz  and all that ram..... Have you installed the graphics drivers yet?

Ok lets take this one step at a time.Is the operating system operating ok.Tell me if I'm wrong but I think you are or were going to use XP Pro.Is that correct.

Q2:Are ALL of the drivers for the operating system installed.IE:Chipset drivers,IDE or Sata, which ever you have,Sound drivers, and if needed, agp drivers, although you may be using PCI express.PCI is the way to go if your motherboard supports this,AGP has too many bottlenecks.

If all of the above is in place, then I would be looking at the graphics card and making sure that the drivers are in place for that. Now Dual core,if it is running the operating system ok will run FS9.Also,did you know that FS9 is a stand alone program.I have six partitions on 2 hard drives.MY FS9 is installed on my E drive,I have totally formatted my C drive and reinstalled XP pro and without reinstalling FS9 I have been able to run it.There's some useless info for you.If you are having any sort of problems with the operating system then it stands to reason that FS9 will also give you probs.

the graphics card is a geforce 7300gs 256mb pci-e. Not the best of cards, but its easily capable of playing fs9. It plays Doom 3 ,GTA San andreas and NFS most wanted flawlessly at 1024x768 with settings at max.

come to think of it, I still have yet to figure out what the two unknown devices are in device manager, and Im still getting to installing the sound drivers. Could this make a difference to performance in just FS9, when all other games run fine?

My OS is XP Pro, and its running perfectly fine. I have FS9 on 170GB D drive with all my other games, and Windows is on the 30GB C drive.

Thanks

I got rid of the unknown devices too. I installed some drivers for my Intel Chipset, which enabled some onboard stuff and the modem (which i dont use anyway)

Trolly, heres what my computer has

3.0Ghz Pentium D dual core
3GB DDR2 RAM 533Mhz
Windows XP Pro
PCIe x16 with Geforce 7300GS 256mb
16x DVD Writer
Floppy drive
400W PSU
12CM fan on front and on CPU
17" Dell moniter which is absolute JUNK but does the job
56k modem
200GB 7200RPM SATA HDD

I brought it off trademe from some bloke in Auckland for just $1100!. Almost everything is still under warranty for another year, and it came as a fully working system. Also came with MS Office 2007 Beta and Vista RC1, Nero, 3 Anti viruses and a few other things.

Oh and a set of speakers with a 5" Sub woofer in it

Wow brownbox, it sounds like you got the best deal on the planet

Was it all brand new, and was the guy you bought it off selling anymore systems, like was he selling them on behalf of a PC store, or was it a private dealer?

he was just a guy selling one pc because the company he works for gave him a new one :( .

There it is :)

For $1000 a cheap gaming computer could be made, just by searching on trademe, for people who build computers ;)
